taxidermist Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Yesterday a man called and brought by a large live striper from Bull Shoals. 47 inches long with a 28 inch girth. electronic scales said it was big 51lbs and 3 oz. with the current large food supply in the lake you cna expect several more large striped bass to come in.
motoman Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Holy Moly, that's a biggun! I think my head might explode if I hooked up something like that!
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 9, 2009 Root Admin Posted December 9, 2009 What is the state record? That's got to be close.
ozark trout fisher Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Yesterday a man called and brought by a large live striper from Bull Shoals. 47 inches long with a 28 inch girth. electronic scales said it was big 51lbs and 3 oz. with the current large food supply in the lake you cna expect several more large striped bass to come in. Great fish! Where do these stripers come from? They aren't stocked are they?
Wayne SW/MO Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I wonder if we could trade some Walleye's for Stripers? Can you imagine the fishery below Powersite if there was a major Striper or Wiper run when ever they were generating? That would be a boost to the economy that would be noticeable. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Ham Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 If they would add about 1000 stripers a year to BSL, it would be fantastic. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Members randyw Posted December 9, 2009 Members Posted December 9, 2009 whether they will admit or not arkansas has released some stripers in BSL over the years fish caught in the last 24 months range from 22# to the new MO state record so it it is not a one time stocking. Maybe someday the MDC will stock either stripers or wipers in Taneycomo for a REAL trophy fishery. I would rather see stocker trout feed a striper rather than a tourist anyday !!
roy_eros Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Dont know how much truth there is to this, but i heard about 9 or so years ago AGFC had a truckload of Stripers heading over to Beaver and the pumps on the truck failed, so they ran down to Bull and dumped them in real quick before they all died, dont know how much truth there is to this, just some local talk at the time, maybe someone else knows more about it.
Samkam1 Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 taxidermist, do you have any pics of striped bass mounts you have done by chance?
motoman Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 What is the state record? That's got to be close. - I think Missouri is like 56lbs? But, I can't be certain.
