denjac Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I think the pointers throw a bit better than the Spro, but I like the Spro better. Why? I dont know why , just catch more fish on it. getfished Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I agree with Denjac. I believe the pointer does cast easier. I was recently on Table Rock where I used 4 different brands of jerkbaits. I caught the most fish on the McStick but I believe it was a result of having the correct color pattern. I would have fished with a pointer, a Megabass, or a prototype I have if I would have had it in the right color pattern. I think each bait has a slightly different profile but in most cases the color pattern is more important. I know prices vary from $4 for a rogue to $30 for a megabass, and then you have the custom paints that sell for who knows how much. If everybody tended to evolve to the megabass mentality then theoretically someday someone could clean up with a $4 rogue just because it's a "new" profile the fish haven't seen in awhile. I try to keep 3 brands in 4 colors and 2 depths. It's a disgusting life sentence but ...................... http://www.tacklespecialty.com/
Fishing Buddy Don House Posted January 4, 2010 Fishing Buddy Posted January 4, 2010 Opinions on which you like better and why? McSticks for me, they just seem to work better down here on the rock.. It has to be the way they suspend and the motion they offer under water, plus a new design the fish have not seen.. Now as far as the pointers they do cast much better, but it is the way they are designed with the weights that roll to the back then forward on the cast. Now as much as I hate to say it, I really have come to like the MegaBass baits as well, very very expensive but dang do they work! I own a dozen of them and there are times I can always get the bite off of the megabass baits. Only trick for all of these guys is to weight the back underside of the bait with a storm sticky weight.. It makes the tail drop when suspended! Fish just can't take it!! Good Fishing Everyone!! Ham Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 I like the McStik. I own a lot of LC Pointers, but I reach for a Mc Stik first. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Fishrman Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Bought 4 McStik's yesterday and the gentleman told me when I take them out of the package I should take super glue or clear nail polish and spread over the joints where the line tie is, the hooks are and the lip. He said the Megabass also should have this done, since these are two piece baits that are glued together. Some them have been coming apart a little when fighting a fish. Just thought I would let you guys know since this topic is here and these baits are high.

I had taking a FLW tour guy out in the late winter and he showed me the trick of placing the sticky weight right in front of the last hook. He out fished me 5 to 1 his was weighted mine was not!!! Same bait!!! it just allows the tail to drop down and raise the nose up as it suspends. Just go buy some Storm stick on weights and give it try, you will like it.. Now I do it to all of my stickbaits, McSticks, Pointers and Megabass.. Good Fishing Don Capt. They need more colors to select from though.
steveearle Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Don-- After throwing the Megabass for a long time I realized it is easier to wrap the suspend strip around the rear trable (or even the middle). Just when you think the dot/strip is never going to come of the bottom of the bait....it does...Just a quick tip if you ever have that problem....To anyone that has not thrown them you have to add some weight just to get them to suspend...Most are "slow floaters."
