The yahoo forum was one of the main factors in my decision to go Humminbird .I have had lowrance since the old black flasher units were standard .

Techo, easier to ask forgivness than permission, go for it you wont be sorry. [i had to pay cash ,my wife does the books] Most people are fascinated by the sidescan even if they dont fish. Now you can really see whats down there and return to a spot with space age precision. You can record and go back later and see what you missed, marking structure to check next time out. It is satisfying to me to catch fish on these newly discovered spots.

Sam ,the web site was www.lakediver.com they didnt have much listed , I think the divers are a little secretive not wanting to give up thier "treasure" I believe there is a book out about the history of the White before the dam was built.

Capt Don feel free to use any screen shots you wish.I hope to get out next week maybe wed or thurs I'll be in a gunmetal and gold single console Champ196 with a v-max on it cruising around the bridge .Whatever happened to some sort of identifying sticker?

Speaking of Truman. Have any of you guys with the SI unit's been on truman? I'm curious if the images are much the same? I have a guy who told me that there was "so much cover" on the bottom of truman it all lookd the same? I don't have any "imaging" at the moment but can see that I may be driving around more than fishing!

My dad and I were fishing Truman near Sterret Creek. I told him that there is a cemetery around there somewhere. He didn't believe me that their were still stones on the bottom. At the time he had a Hummingbird 3D view. It worked really well for what we were doing. Anyway we motored over the area and he was very shocked when a cross appeared on the screen. If anyone with a SI unit gets around that area, I would like to see some shots of it again. By the way dad just purchased a SI unit two weeks ago.

Where is the Yahoo discussion group? I have been on the BBC site, very helpfull.

The diver I contacted online just got back to me. He sent me a Word document with GPS coordinates and descriptions of many dive sites on Tablerock - including sunken boats, building foundations, bridges, and all the interesting underwater places they've found. There are some maps and photos included, as well as some side-scan sonar pictures.

It's mostly about Tablerock, but it also includes some dive sites on Beaver, Bull Shoals, Stockton, and Norfolk Lakes. If you want the document, send me a personal message with your email address and I'll send it to you.

Sam,

Your mailbox may be full. I tried to send a message and it denied my request. I would appreciate a copy of the word doc you received.

Thanks in advance.

Same here, I got an error when trying to PM you. Can you send the doc to jejb @ att.net (without the spaces, of course)?

Thanks

I love that pic of the spoonbill Don. From what I have read about these SI units and the way the shadows work, do you think that fish was just suspended really high in the water column? Seems the shadow is a ways off to the side of the fish. Looking at examples of a bluffs on the SI units, it makes me think that fish is just high in the water column instead of down on the bottom. The ohter pictures you posted in that thread a few years ago when you first took that pic did not show near the shadows coming off the fish.

Man I want one of these SI units so bad now. It sure would be funny to have a fish finder worth as much as my boat though LOL.

Joe and jeb - I just sent you the list. Sorry for the confusion.

Yes, my mailbox here must be full. Now the site won't let me go to my personal messages to respond to or delete them. I'll have to contact Phil about that.

I've sent the list to all the requests I've received. Let's do it this way - if you want the list of dive sites, or if you sent me a PM I didn't respond to, just email me direct at ozarkbrew@yahoo.com and I'll send it to you.

i have just purchased a hds8 and have only been on the water a couple of hours to play with it but I'm very impressed with the great images. very pricey however but from what i see its well worth the money . it will be a great tool which will add to the experience of being out on the water just looking at the images scrolling across the screen . I'm not a pro however it should will make finding fish and unknown structure a lot easier especially if you don't know the lake. after my short experience i have to say I'm hooked.reading the information on ozarkanglers form help me pull the trigger thanks for the help.
