I heard last night from who I think is a reliable person that Brass Pro has given or is going to give the MDC $10 million dollars for the stocking of Table Rock Bass.

Has anyone heard of this or anything different?

If that happens it would be beyond belief. MDC does not believe in bass stoking programs. They said after the fish kills that they just don't work and that any fish stocked would not survive the various bugs that our bass have gotten an immunity too.

However you know the old saying money talks and bulls and cows walk, or something like that.

I have been part of this lake program for as long as I can rember, and I have never heard of Bass Pro, spending 1 cent without a motive. We will see.

How many bass will 10m buy?

Instead, "Morris Family YMCA" sounds real nice.

Maybe he's thinking of the habitat program BP is starting. Weren't they going to spend that much on structure?

BP has been collecting and dispursing Christmas trees for several years on TR and BS- mainly TR- but to what extent I don't know. Not sure how you can spend $10m in cedars and firs- must be something else.

Maby they could take their Branson Landing project and sink it in Table Rock. That would be some great fishing structure and it would also be a gift to the entire community.

Not many, in my experience.

I've probably spent a few hundred thousand dollars on fishing in my lifetime. If I looked at that as "cost per pound" on fish caught, I'd be in trouble.

I think it works out to about $100 per fish, but boy, I had a lot of fun doing it.

Can anyone tell us what is planned? Does this refer to minimun flow in Taney?

Fish habitats in Ozarks to be restored.

SPRINGFIELD --- The Ozarks Table Rock lake and adjacent waters willbe a test case for a national plan to save fish stocks from deteriorating habitat and water conditions.

The project will be funded in part by Springfield based Bass Pro Shops, the company and conservation officials announced Friday.

The nonprofit National Fish and Wildlife Foundation said Bass Pro Shops will contribute $5 million, which will be matched by money raised by the foundation, over 5 years for a national campaign to preserve and restore fish habits.

Half of the $10 million will go projects at the 52,300 acre Table Rock Lake, neighboring Lake Taneycomo and the White river watershed on the Missouri-Arkansas border.

Bass Pro is the first corporate sponsor of the foundations More Fish campaign.
