Don
I fish a Galvan Torque in my 5 wt and I absolutely love the reel. I was discussing a new 4 wt reel I might purchase later this year and I might get another Galvan. Others suggested Lamson Litespeeds as their favorites. Some folks I talked to have stated they sent their Litespeeds in for repair several times because of drag problems. Since then, they stated they fish their Ross Evolutions much more often and are extremely satisfied. Looking for experienced feedback from those who have fished more than one of these reels and asking for both Pro's and Con's. Thanks, Don May I caught you a delicious bass. NoLuck
Hey Don, You may want to look around a little. I picked up an Abel reel for a pretty good price late last summer. It was not a large arbor but it was an Abel and I am convinced after using the one on my 3wt that it is a pretty good drag system. I don't know how much you are looking to spend but I think there are some still out there. I don't know exactly what the reason for the discount was but it was a pretty good one. Take care, Rich
Gavin
4wt...no drag needed IMO.....Get a Hardy or a Peerless....if its in the budget...If not...get the Konic...Same drag as the LS, but a really nice price. Cheers.
snagged in outlet 3
Litespeed here. Lightweight and smooth. I've never had any trouble. Besides that it looks cool. Isn't Paola Cat selling one on the Buy/sell forum? SIO3
drew03cmc
USA Pflueger Medalist. Done and done. They are smooth under pay, darn near bulletproof and a fraction of the cost of the others. I know it's not flashy, large arbor, disc drag, etc. These have a drag design that has been around for 70+ years. Andy
OKFlyFisher44
I have a Ross Evolution on my 5wt and absolutely love it. The drag is butter smooth and so far bulletproof! I also have a Ross Vexsis on my 3wt and its fantastic as well. I love my Ross reels. Pretty hard to beat IMO! Paola Cat
Yep .... I've got a Litespeed for sale .... LS2. Fantastic reel. It's like new .... it's only seen the stream a few times. Attempting to sell it because I need the cash. All (3) of the reels mentioned above .... Torque, Litespeed, and Evolution are great reels. You really can't go wrong with any of them. I personally prefer the Lamson and the Ross over the Galvan. PC Cheers. PC
Fishmeister
I haven't fished a Ross Evolution, but I do have a few pre 94 Ross Gunnisons, they have been used hard and still function like new. They quit manufacturing them, but you can still see some listed on ebay. IMO, as good or better than the new stuff.
Bman
I have several Ross CLA's, and last year upgraded to the Ross Vexsis reels. I'm sold on Ross. Just check out the technologies involved in their made in USA manufacturing facility located in Montrose, Colorado. The 17 LB Brown pictured to the left was caught using a Ross reel. The Ross functioned perfectly during the many reel screaming runs the big male made! http://www.rossreels.com/index.cfm The only good line is a tight line
