dwiebenga Posted February 6, 2010 Author Posted February 6, 2010 Techo I have three of the Bucco rods and I think they are hard to beat for the money. I have the 6'6" medium that I use for Spinnerbaits and Topwater, the 7' medium that use for wigglewarts, and the 7' heavy that I used for big football jigs until I got the Cara Head Turner for Christmas. I had several of the St. Croix Mojos before I got the first Bucco. I ended up selling most of the Mojos to a couple of buddies and replaced them with Falcon rods. I would use the Bucco rods for moving baits and stick with the Cara T7 rods for dragging the bottom where the feel is important with the exception of the Cara Reaction T7 Jerkbait Special. It is one sweet rod for throwing stickbaits. The next rod I am going to try out is the Lowrider 6'8" MH AOY for throwing square bill cranks up the river. I hate to admit it but I have a bad tackle and equipment addiction. I guess there are worse things to be addicted to though. I hope all of this rambling helped. I have the same addiction! Not a bad addiction though.

I was waffling between going wih another low rider, a St. Croix Mojo or the Bucoo. I finally picked up the Bucoo today. I have a Johnny Morris Signature reel that I picked up from the discount store two years ago. It was still in the box and I have never used it for some reason. The silver reel on that black rod looks awesome. I cut the hook off an old 5/16 Eakins jig that has been beat to almost unrecognizable. I also decided to try some fluorocarbon again and purchased some Seaguar Invis X. The neighbors are used to it by now, but went out in the front yard to try some casting. Whooooooooooeeeeeeee! I can cast into the neighbors planter by their mail box, across the road from the sidewalk right next to my steps. It is SMOOOOOTH and sweet. As I reeled it back in....the jig caught in the neighbors roses a bit and would catch on the grass some. The rod would bend and flex and I could pop the jig back up a bit and work it in. Not sure how it is going to fish, but it looks great and feels great right now. Wife is still a little embarrased about the neighbors watching out the window. I have the same addiction. At times I think it would be a little cheaper to be a drug addict or drunk. I see their quality of life though and am quite happy being obsessed about fishing. If you buy good quality stuff it lasts a long time. I believe these Falcon rods will easily last me fifteen years or more. I have spinning rods and reels that are easily over fifteen years old and working great. If I could keep from stepping on them in the boat or breaking tips off doing stoopid stuff they would last forever. Thanks for the input. Tim Carpenter
rps Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Tell the wife after a while, she will get over the embarrassment. Besides, it has it good sides. Neighbors never ask you to do favors like pick up their newspapers or water their lawn while they are gone.
