For the third or fourth consecutive year, I just received my Bass Pro Preferred Rewards welcome letter. It says I am in their top 10% and I am entitled to rewards.

The embarrassing part: I may also qualify for Cabela's program. I have had "doubles" in the past.

Please tell me I am not the only soul here afflicted with this Jones?

I value my points from both. I'm not in to particulars, but I think Cabela's points are a little better than Bass Pro's.

Im with ya, I try to support the local tackle houses but most large purchases go to basspro, and a few to cabelas.

As long as I am confessing (tell it brother), I also received the hard cover catalogs from both.

I received the Bass Pro letter again this year. My wife has caught me hiding in the bathroom reading the catalog. I feel better now thanks!

Use the Cabela's card to purchase Redhead items at Bass Pro. Redhead earns double points and you get Cabela's points on your card. It's like using cheese bait for trout.

I got the hard cover from Cabelas, but not from BPS. I suppose if I ever sat down and added up the money I spend on fishing (Boat, rods, reels, lures, gas, boat launch fees, maintenance, rain gear, hats, insurance, registration, etc) and divided that by the number of fish caught, well I bet those fish are pretty expensive.

Rewards points are great. I worked out of town a couple years ago. Used my BPS credit card to pay for my stay at La Quinta. Got Returns points from them, company paid per-diem for out of town expenses. 8 1/2 months, got a bunch of BPS points and 14 free nights at La Quinta. Used all but 3 nights in Branson. Probably use the rest there this year.
