abkeenan Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 For those of you that throw the lucky craft RC's what color do you prefer for those shallow runners? A shad color? Bluegill? Perch? Ive never thrown them so i am clueless as to what colors would be best for this presentation. -Brett
dwiebenga Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I just started throwing them last season and I have done well with the Wake bait. I use the Copper Green and Purple Perch. I have been using the 1.5 and 2.5 models
steveearle Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 You can basically get away with 2 colors based on water clarity. The White Shad (white w/black splatterback) for clear water and chartreuse perch (chart w/ black splatterback) for dirtier water. That is really all you need but I have caught a bunch of fish on the copper green shad. The 1.5 gets the most bites. The 2.5 and 3.5 are great but remember they are not just bigger but also go deeper. I got a great lesson with these baits drawing Rick Clunn on day 3 of the 2006 Kentucky Lake BASS event (the one Morizo Shimizu won). Clunn threw the White Shad 3.5 most of the day. As a side note, I really like the Lucky Craft BDS 3 in Tenn Shad. It is similar but has an elongated, more-shad like body than any of the RCs or BDS baits.
Champ188 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Lucky Craft also has introduced a RC 2.0 this year. Looks like it could be a perfect fit between the 1.5 and 2.5.
wily Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 i like the 2.5 american shad color at grand lake
