Members pat Posted February 18, 2010 Members Posted February 18, 2010 I am coming down from Kansas City to fish in Friday and Saturday to fish with 5 or 6 buddies. We will be fishing with spinning gear from a boat and some from the bank; probably putting in at the state park. Has anyone been fishing recently that can give some advice? Spots to try? Lures to try? I have fished the river several times so I'm somewhat familiar with landmarks. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Pat
gotmuddy Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 I havent fished up by the dam, but I have consistantly done good with triple olive and brown/orange zigjigs. Saturday I fished crooked creek with my neighbor and his grandson and outfished both of them with the triple olive. they were using powerbait. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

Where do you buy those and how are you fishing them (drifting on bottom/jigging)?
Ham Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 I have fished several area in the last couple of weeks and they have all fished well. The area immediately below BSL dam is probably the best spot right now, but it si getting HEAVY fishing pressure and that has to start afecting the fish at some point, I went to Wildcat Shoals area on 2/18/10 to avoid the crowds at BSL dam. I had a brief but very nice trip. I had one Brown in the 20 inch range and several others between 15-18 inches. I use Zig Jigs and jerkbaits when not fly fishing. If you want to fly fish, look at Larry Babin's reports or John Berry's reports. Both are dead on. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Gavin Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 I'd bring stuff that looks like a dead or dying shad..
gotmuddy Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Where do you buy those and how are you fishing them (drifting on bottom/jigging)? Cranfield junction on 62E has them if they ever open up. Harps has them too but they are too expensive everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
