Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 28, 2010 Root Admin Posted February 28, 2010 Blue bird day with lots of wind in some areas. Fishing decent in the am but tough in the pm. That's what I heard from the first teams who came in but stories changed and more anglers weighed in. It's amazing how stories change on the same water in the same day. Some had tough days while others did well. Trout were caught from the mouth of Fall Creek all the way down to the Landing. Not much caught lower than the Landing this time. Bill's account of the condition of trout down lake seems to be accurate. White jigs and spinners made a comeback. Still don't think we've had much shad at all but we could miss it. The trout sure won't. Saw lots of males again and females dropping eggs. Weights are still up there showing there are still alot of good rainbows around to be caught. I'll post the pics from the day including the final results. Jerry and JD Dudley 1st place Will Skucins and Adam Bennett 2nd Place Gerry Dwiggins and Tom Burckhardt 3rd Place Jeff Cross and Tony Weldele 4th Place
hillbillyflyshack Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Phil as always puts on a great show. This time down I not only got to fish with Bill Babler whom I consider the consumate guide but a heck of a lot of fun to be around. He is also a master jig salesman for Phil. At the dinner I met Leonard a very interesting gentleman to say the least. Had a really good time and will be back next year.
Bill Babler Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 HBFS Looks like you guys had a nice showing with 6.28. From there all it takes is one of those good ole goodins. Enjoyed our time together and you all really learned very quickly on that Sculpin straight line jig. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Gatorjet Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Congrats guys! Looks like a great event as usual, sorry I missed it. Darn back surgery!! There's always next year. Oh well, the Gator will be back on the water in May if not sooner. Can't wait. Real men go propless!
hillbillyflyshack Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Bill if Jim could count to eight we would have done better. He thought we had nine for some reason and threw one out at the dock before I could stop him. Counted one fish twice in livewell. Oh well he's still a great guy and we had a lot of fun and ate well.

wily Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 I thought i saw on a post someplace that Trav was going to fish the tournament...how did he do?
hillbillyflyshack Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Leonard you did meet me. I sat across from you at the dinner table. You said you were fishing a PMS jig that's what got our conversation going. We discussed what happened to the Brown trout in Taney remember. I would also like to meet you again and hopefully have you show me about fishing at night as that seems to be when the big trout roam. By the way people in my earlier post I mentioned about eating well. Hope none of you thought I meant the trout on tournament day as my intention was that I ate well at the dinner. I knew that it was a catch and release tournament.
