You know I don't really like the video camera everywhere thing myself. But..When you are 1800 miles from home you can take a peek at whats going on there. That alone makes it enjoyable. If you are worried about your wife or boss spotting you just wear a really wide brimmed hat and keep your back turned to the camera.

What surprises me most is that a lot of you guys so concerned with privacy/surveillance have no problems posting reports and stories here, broadcasting to the world where you fished, when you fished, who you fished with, what you fished with, how deep you fished it, how successful you were, and even providing photos of yourself, your catch, and your location. Far more information than can be provided by watching that video stream. DNR doesn't need to put up a camera to spy on you guys, you provide all the information they'd need voluntarily on here.

Huge difference ! Regardless of how confident and relaxed you are when driving down the interstate, tell me that it doesn't effect your mood to have a trooper behind you for 20 miles....much less the whole trip.

To be surveilled when fishing (or doing anything in your free time) is like having an unfriendly jackass in a uniform standing behind you, arms crossed, silently observing you....all.....darn....day.

And yeah, I'm pretty sure there is (or will soon be) more than just the online streaming webcam, and if it's anything like I think it is they are capable of zooming in and reading tag numbers.

My almost-inlaws place is set up like fort knox and I've played with their system alot (actually helped set it up) and you can count the whiskers on a squirrels nose at 100 yards. The inlaws system has 6 wireless remote pods and cost less than 3500.00 (less installation) to buy.

I'm sure the system at Bennett (and probably Montauk and Taneycomo as well) is at least a 80k system (using their estimate for a fish cleaning station as a reference).

I bet there wasn't any surveillance onboard the Rangers truck during the Beagle shooting, or if there was I'll bet it has been edited out. BTW that's another feature my inlaws cheapo system has. Just food for thought.

And I hear that they even have a system set up at Crane.

Cause it did, Eric.. Not really, I Got away with it, but (oddly enough) got caught when I came back with a bucket and a shovel to clean up my mess... Explaining to the agent just what the heck I was doing wasn't fun, but I didn't get a ticket or anything.. How would they write up a ticket for that, anyway? What would the infraction be? "Removing foreign materials from the park without the proper permits" or something, eh? LOL

Flysmallie: Momma has two pictures from when I was two. One of me standing on a toy drum, clapping and smiling. The next is a photo of me on the floor crying, holding my head, the drum upturned next to me.

I'm pretty sure that's what happened. Why? (lol)

Fozzie, you took me much more serious than I was taking you. As you can see I am a bit of a joker.. (when your parents name you Cricket you learn to take life a with a laugh instead of the usual "serious face") Lemme start over, just this once, for you.. (envision a goofy grin, now)

I don't have a problem with being video taped when I am on public property, as long as I am made aware. That is, if I am not mistaken, a constitutional right.

Thanks. :)

RC: Looking forward to seeing ya down here, glad I could make you chuckle.. It made me chuckle typing it up, so it's only fair.. ;)

Pat:NOOOOOOO! THEYRE ALL GONNA LAUGH AT YOU!!! Lay off the southpark and have a bloody, buddy..

(now very few people will get that reference or how it ties into the first sentence in all caps)

As evident by a few email forwards I've gotten, walking into Wal-Mart looking all crazy has become a a way to distract the surveillance cameras there pretty good.

So, who's gonna be the first to put on a thong and a mullet, and fish off the dam ? C'mon Cricket :goodjob:

Again with the pink?

You do a belly flop off the bridge in a pink thong and I'll send you a thousand bucks and a new ultralight.

No worries Cricket, sorry if it came off as something other than goofiness. Just different opinions, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's all in fun.

And fishinwench, I can certainly see your point. A couple years back I was fishing Yellowstone...pretty meadow stream, I was absorbed in fishing, and all of a sudden I notice a tourist fifty or so yards away with a telephoto lens, taking pictures of me. Nice guy, and meant nothing by it, just wanted some pretty pictures of a guy fly fishing in a big western meadow, mountains all around, a postcard-type thing. Nothing sinister about it, but it certainly did make me self-conscious, and did have an effect on my fishing that day. Even if it's an innocent act, it can still have a profound effect on your experience.

I dunno, I guess I'm a bit wishy-washy on the whole thing, how I feel about it depends on the context of the situation. Bennett's a very public, very social place, and I'd probably be less upset having a picture or video of myself taken there than if I were alone or with a few friends on a quiet, less well-known stream. To me the latter would be more of an intrusion...psychologically, I suppose. That's entirely subjective, though, and I'm sure there's folks that have the same feelings fishing Bennett as I do fishing other places. To each their own.

Sorry if that wound up as incoherent rambling, I just wound up sort of thinking out loud...

Tom.

Where may I mail this video to, and when can I expect a check (that won't bounce)?
