Well I hope you are "unoffficially" correct.

When talk at the park meeting (off the record) regarding surveillance within the state park gets overheard, then a forum member reports seeing a surveillance camera at Crane.

Then all of a sudden we have a live streaming webcam.

That's an interesting coincidence... I don't want to split hairs or anything, but, is there anyone that can "officially" confirm that there is no remote video or audio surveillance attempts being done, or planned, either onstream or within the campground areas ?

Phil, no surveillance at Taney either ?

Jerry the hatchery mangager here at R.R. told me several months ago, we would start

seeing cameras here and there to help watch for violaters and such, and night cameras to

watch around the hatchery at night.

More cameras the better, I stopped breaking laws years ago :)

I have a lot of customers that would like to look at the river

before they drive 200 miles, just to find it flooded or

high, at least they can take a look and know what is in store

for them after the drive, more cameras the better, I like looking

at the stream anyway

I guess none of you know of the cameras on crane :)

they have been there awhile now, just try to find them, they are at

all the conservation access areas, and all are solar powered and are

hidden on the creek, I think i have found most of them now, but you never know.

Well then surely the boys who watch the crane video would be knocking on my door by now.. I strung up a full creel of 3 inch fish and drug em up and down stream all day! (just funnin, maybe I'll send em on a wild goose chase checking the tape)

But I saw no signs stating that I was being video taped, so even if they tried to hit me with some silly ticket for relieving myself next to the truck, I'd simply call my lawyer and lean on my rights, correct?

Man. Snakes, cougars, bears, poison ivy, wader-eating brush, and now CAMERAS!??

Probably a good reason for that, if people see wall to wall fisherman many would stay home and Roger's and the DNR would lose money!

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

I installed the Bennett Cam from start to finish, except for the final decisions on where it would be streamed to and how it was rebroadcasted, that was up to the web guys. The camera is not set up for anything but web streaming. The bandwidth coming from the park doesn't allow for remote enforcement and there is no infrastructure in the hatchery, where it would have to be to provide more capabilities. We did install infrared pointed at a specific point in the water. The original plan was to have the cam change positions throughout the day and then zoom to a specific shot in the water after dark to observe flooding conditions, but that plan was axed to remove any concerns from the public, so the infra-red, which was donated to us by Axis, was removed. I am not sure how long the streaming will continue, but at some point it may revert to still photos a couple times a minute or so. As far as the DNR side, no other cameras in any park. I do not know what MDC has at other locations.. The camera is locked down and there are only a couple of people with access.

Not sure why they don't have it running on the weekends, I would think they would want it on then. They are still are getting the stream on weekends, just choosing not to broadcast it.

I am going to suggest the advertising thing and see if it goes anywhere. As long as the money is directed back at the park, it might be a good thing. Would you that camp at Bennett enjoy wi-fi access ? We have it at the lodge now, but want to expand it.
