Fishinwrench, I understand that you don't like cameras, and neither do I. I don't know whether there are any other cameras in the park, and unless there MDC agent here who slips up and says there are, then no one will know with certainty.

But it is crucial to understand two things. One, the web camera is nowhere near the quality that is needed for surveillance. Look at the images and you will understand that. I have not heard of anyone who has been written a ticket for an infraction in any MO park due to camera surveillance.

Two, a person’s expectation to privacy in Bennett, or any other trout park area, is very low. You know when you go there that the park is crowded due to its popularity, and that you will have to share the water with others.

Not trying to be argumentative, but I just think that the camera there is not as intrusive as cameras in other places.

Its frustrating that cameras are becoming so ordinary that we no longer question their purpose, but unfortunately it looks like we’re going to have to learn to live with them.

ITGUY,

Wi-Fi through out the entire park has my vote. Actually the wife's vote. She could stay up at the trailer and do her work rather than the need to go with me and take the truck to go over where she can get the wi-fi.

As far as video's go. Have you ever done a search on youtube for Bennett Springs? You may find yourself in the background of someone's post?? There you go, you've been video taped and spread across the entire internet!! :noway:

Heck! You can go to the Norfork tailwaters and we can watch you fish up/down river from Gene's Trout Resort web cam that update I think every 20 seconds.......I do get the urge for fishing when you see the water is turned off and in the early evening all the risers out there getting a few bugs before they get to the surface

Put it back to live, PLEASE???? :D

The Park does look creepy right now though...would love to see some footage of them releasing the fish into the stream...anybody going to stay up all night watching to get a screen capture? I don't know if they stock there anyway...

If you want streaming back, or want other angles or faster refresh rates from the park. You should email bill.bryan@dnr.mo.gov. He is the current parks director and he is a pretty good guy and has your interests at heart.

Thank you IT, I will certainly make my feelings known.

I did send Mr Bryan an e-mail to voice my opinion and I got a very quick response back. I don't see anything changing (good thing I have been tyin up a bunch of warm water flies)-just thought I would let you know that the powers that be are very aware of the concerns of everyone on both sides of this issue.

I guess I routinely mingle with a different caliber of people, because everyone that I have heard speak about the video surveillance within the state park at Bennett, Taneycomo, and the other "trout parks", has been disgusted and totally against it.

They may or may not notice it on their books at the end of this year, but I know for a fact that quite a few people will forget that the trout parks even exist because of this.

The minor turn offs have always been the crowds, and fish that were "too easy", so fishing in the park has never been what you could call "real fishing". Now when you add in that your every move is being watched and recorded, you have the straw that breaks the camels back, for a few at least.

Those of you that like that sort of thing may enjoy some extra space from now on.
