This is awesome that you share this.  I am planning to have the family down there in mid June (about 2 weeks from now) and would love to get the kids into a mess of crappies and a mess of Kentucky bass.  How well do you think these areas will hold up in mid June? We will be near Indian point but could go about anywhere on the lake.

Crappie are going to be scarce in mid-June, especially with the flood conditions, and most members of this forum don't kill our bass, particularly since all 3 species must be a minimum of 15 inches to keep. When you say "mess," I assume you were referring to sawing the sides off of them.

no, I do not keep Bass they are too fun to catch..  Mess = lots of fish to catch maybe a better term would be looking for a place for the kids to have fun catching crappies, bass, we know we can get a bunch of little bluegills from our last trip there.  I can fish all day with 3 bites and have fun kids need 2 hours with 100 bites to say it was fun lol...

In that case, I hope you find great success with all species. Thanks for practicing catch-and-release and for passing the wonderful sport of fishing along to your kids.

Hi, Bob. Thanks so much for posting this.  I realize I'm a bit later than the post , just stumbled upon this but this is great info.  Do you know what the time of year was for the marking on the maps?  In other words, is this for spring, fall, year round?  And any thoughts on the time of day these areas seem to hold the fish shown on the maps?

Hard to imagine that the markings for topwater Kentucky's would be valid for a hot July day. Maybe thats spring just before the spawn?

Would appreciate any insight you could provide on the maps.  These are really great, just want to understand a bit more of the assumptions and how best to use this info.

Thanks,

John Huffman

@Bill Babler and Buster Loving gave me the info for the markings.  Bill could write a book on fishing Table Rock and may after he RETIRES (haha) from guiding.  It'd be one of the best fishing TR books ever, not that he knows more than other long-time anglers, but he's a great writer and usually shares more than he should.

One thing that helps, I think, in asking for info on a forum is that the asker comes back and shares his or her experiences.  I hope you become a frequent poster here on OAF.

A hot July day is one of the best times to catch spots on top. I've seen them schooling on top at all hours of the day in July, August and September.
