I know I brought this up before (at least I think I did), but too lazy to search the threads to see where we left off. But, reading the recent posts, all I read is "I will be in a blue/white Champion"; "Look for a red/white Skeeter"; and "I drive a white/gray Triton." I would recommend that we again discuss a way for us to recognize each other when on the water, at the ramp, gas station, Wal-Mart, etc.

When I fished a tournament in Kansas three years ago, we were not allowed to keep fish in a livewell. When you caught a keeper, you had to find another boat in the tourney to witness and sign off on your measured catch. To find another boater in the tourney, every boat was given a fluorescent-colored ribbon to tie to their respective trolling motors. It was easy to identify the other boaters in the tournament.

Let's discuss this issue. I think we need this for several reasons: Identify each other and promote Ozark Anglers. It will be easy for us to identify each other when on the water and at the launch ramp. People will come up to you and ask: "What is the ribbon for." You can tell them about our Ozark Anglers' website and forum. We can tell people who visit the Ozark Angler's website and forum: "Look for the yellow fluorescent-colored ribbon tied to a trolling motor and introduce yourself." I would also suggest a yellow flourescent-colored ribbon as tribute to our active duty warriors that keep us safe and free (instead of the yellow ribbon around a tree, ours will be around our trolling motors). Heck, we could also have the Ozark Anglers website address and "Support our Troops" printed on the ribbon.

Let the discussion begin.

I like Capt. Joe's fluorescent ribbon idea. Yes, the bumper stickers are very nice. But the ribbons would be easier to see from a distance.

The Decals would be nice. I tried the Magnetic one but it kept falling off the fiberglass. Sticks real nice to the back of the truck though. I suppose until someone realizes it is magnetic and takes it.

Of course there aren't to many Red and Black Cobra's running around the lake.

Respect your Environment and others right to use it!

Have fished similar tournaments, where you put a ribbon on the trolling motor, and verify catch then release.

I won't wear a yellow hat,or clothes. Attracts the bugs...big time.

Any colored ribbon should work. I've got rolls of orange.

Eletrical Tape comes in a myriad of colors these days. One could stripe/mark the TM shaft and motor housing with say yellow or orange color.

I second the yellow ribbon idea with Ozarkanglers printed on it. That's a great idea; something visible from a distance; I think that's key. Decals would not be visible until you're right on top of them. And, I know a lot of people don't want to put decals on there boats.

Generic tape/ribbon would not be as aesthetic either.

We do keep re-visiting this topic!

On the heels of that particular topic.....friendliness in general. When I fished Rainy Lake, every boat you passed would wave. I remember the first time I rode my motorcycle.....every motorcycle I passed sticks an arm out or waves somehow. I was a little worried riding with one hand on my first few rides, but still risked it and waved back. Jeep owners the same thing, wave all the time. Not so much on Table Rock. I always wave anyway. I waved at Cap Joe and his two clients when I went by the other day. I have trolled up to a boat that was fishing the same area as me and sometimes it is a pleasant conversation....sometimes you would think they caught me with their wife or something!

It would be good to recognize the OAF brothers and sisters. I always recognize Capt House and the blue tank. I hope we come up with a solutuon. I had a magnetic bumper sticker on my truck, but someone else wanted it so they took it. It didn't help much for recognizing folks on the lake.

I am cool with ribbon or tape on the trolling motor. I doubt it would have to be a specific color. Heck we could all put American flag stickers on our motors and kill two birds with one sticker so to speak. I am not sure how far away you could see it though.

I am stuck with my Skeeter cap for the most part. It has been very lucky for me so far as I have never lost it, or been killed in it. I suppose when the luck runs out I will try a different cap though.
