Members JerryK Posted March 31, 2010 Members Posted March 31, 2010 Make sure it is compatible with the unit. I made that mistake and couldn't load the Hotmaps Platinium on my older Lowrance.
Members Fat Boy Posted March 31, 2010 Members Posted March 31, 2010 I have the 787 and the 997 all you should have to do is put the card in slot and turn unit on, it will upload automatic and will say so on the screen. You might check and see if you are getting them down loaded to the card correct. Quick question on your 787 are you having problems with unit turning off by itself? Sunday in AIA when I would move from spot to spot it would turn off.

I did when I first installed it, The metal tab that holds the wires needed a little massage to hold the power and gpa antenna wire more frimly into the quick mount bracket. Bent the tab a little reinstalled and have been bouncing around with no issues ever since. TR Timmy

TR Timmy Timmy, Ok are you trying to add these waypoints by hand? Sounds like you have some file that you have placed on an SD card and trying to get the unit to read it, right? Or is it a Mapping card like a Nav chip? If you are loading these from another file here is the best way to do it.. Go to Humminbird.com/support download the Hummnbird PC program.. This program will allow you to add waypoints to your pc then it will compile these unit the right file so your unit will read them.. I use this to add and delete waypoints to my unit and it works very well. Once you save this file it add it to your SD card and then place in slot on your unit. Unit will find and load these for you in memory on the unit.. If you are having issues with a Nav chip, make sure you have the lastest firmware upgrade added to your unit, these can be found on the Humminbird website and are free.. You will have to create an account with Humminbird which wants your serial number off of your unit.. (Do this anyway, humminbird had alot of software upgrades and these are free for and worth the time.) If that does not help drop me an email and we can discuss this in more detail.. TRRANGER Posted April 5, 2010 Author Posted April 5, 2010 Captain Don thanks for your help thus far. I have the manual for HUmminbird pc and am trying to learn it. I am also having to down load a zip file/ gpx file software so I can get this taken care of. Thank You for your knowledge and time I will get with you when I get my computer updates done and this program figured out. Thank Timmy aka trranger
bobby b. Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 If you have a *.gpx file, you will need to upload this file into Humminbird PC and convert it to the Humminbird format. Humminbird PC will save the file back on to your SD card in a Folder called Matrix. Then put the SD card into your powered up unit and it will upload the waypoints automatically. According to the Humminbird tech, some of the older units did recognize the gpx file, but my 997 does not.
