jdmidwest Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 I walked by the window this afternoon after work and spotted an Oriole sitting on the hummingbird feeder pole. I went to get the camera and even more surprising, an albino hummingbird, big sucker too. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. rps Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Isn't that a lost baby red belly woodpecker? Great pic though.

jdmidwest Posted May 4, 2010 Author Posted May 4, 2010 That is not a baby, I feed him all winter. He would pick sunflower seeds out of the feeder and crack them on a limb of a redbud nearby. His tongue was lapping up the sugar water today, now I will probably have a bunch of diabetic peckerwoods flying around. I wish I could have got a shot of the Oriole and the Woodpecker together, it was cool when I first saw them. taxidermist Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Diabetic wood peckers, lol. I want to see you give them a shot. We have tons of gold finches, indigo buntings and even pine martins cleaning the feeders out daily. we have one bird, I have only seen twice, but I think its a female painted bunting.
eric1978 Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 We have tons of gold finches, indigo buntings and even pine martins cleaning the feeders out daily. You mean purple martins? I don't think we have any pine martens in MO.
Chief Grey Bear Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 He may mean a Pine Siskin. Purple Martins don't eat from feeders. eric1978 Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 He may mean a Pine Siskin. That's a new one for me. I would have just called that a sparrow...I don't know much about birds.
