Im not sure if it was to capacity but it cetainly looked imposing. I think its for condo owners myself. There will be twice the parking when all construction trailers and equip are moved but it mite be a long hike.I can also say none of the folks I saw were fishin type folks. These are shoppers.Bass pro will have sportsman, but I saw 4 or 5 shoe stores, many clothing stores for the hip crowd and honest I saw a pair of sandles on sale for 99 dollars,,,,,,,,,,,not for this hillbilly.I guess ill be a walmart supporter for a while longer

I have to add my voice on this one. Champ mentioned that the MO Water Patrol made an informal request to demo below the dam. What would it take to make this a formal request? I fish exclusively above Fall Creek, and I know that boats ripping through that area is a BIG safety concern for me, not to mention that it would really ruin the shallows. We already have the lack of a mayfly hatch to deal with - we don't need a ruined subsurface, too.

Am I alone in my concern, or have others thought/acted on this issue?

truth is, Taney is a riverine lake and that applies to the whole lake, and the fishermen all along its length.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

baby steps guys, they will take baby steps--first a little increase in total usaage--then over time BAM--then you will have to go to a trout park to avoid the crowds

imagin shoulder to shoulder fisherman and boat use like on a hot summer day on the rock!!! just lovely, I like bass pro and shop there, but man enough is enough---they just want to tap into the branson crowds so they do not drive into springfield

I cannot imagin any more use on Taney--it will be like California with closed days and permits to fish on other days

I just wish some how the Avg sports man could inject some sence

the very reason folks come to Taney will be destroyed reguardless of how many trout they stock --put and take

From what I hear if they don't comply with the informal request, they will make it formal. They are just trying to be nice.

It has also been rumored that Joe White of Kanakuk has written some letters worried about boat renters/testers and his campers.

Sure Taney can get busy on the weekends, but I've had a lot of nice quite days on there during the week. I think we have a long ways to go before we get like CA.

BP WILL NOT HAVE BOAT RENTAL. I WAS WRONG WHEN I SAID 18 SLIPS AS IT WILL BE 16 ONLY.NO GAS OR ANY OTHER EXTRAS. NO DOCKING FOR THE PUBLIC.

Kanakuk - I've spent the last 3 evenings down below Branson fishing. Saturday and Sunday there were Kanakuk boats buzzing up and down the lake pulling skiers and tubers. They practically have the lake to themselves really. BL and BP will have to put alot of boats on the lake downstream to make it crowded- and the boats upstream have been few too- at least the last 3 days.

Tonight we saw 6 boats below BLanding and 8 boats above. We headed down at 6:30 pm and came back at 9.

As far as small buisness goes, I belive BP will in the long run help the mom and pop stores. As a small buisness owner myself we had an Ethan Alan store open up 4 bocks from us, and a Hanks 2 blocks. We sell furniture also. After the honeymoon was over our buisnes picked up like crazy. Customers were looking for somthing differant and the low pressure that a Mom and Pop provides. They more they advertised the buisier we got. I would suppose in the fishing buisness a little where and when is worth a ton of buisness, that you won't get at the Bp's. Good luck , bet it works out well!

No question the Landing and BP will bring more business into town and others will benefit by it. Personally I feel no threat at all from BP's presence- I think we will compliment each other.

Funny story- I was in Wal Mart yesterday picking up some bass baits with Coy Howry when one of the sport department clerks, whom I know well, came up with a customer and asked if I had flip down magnifying glasses for caps which I said yes we do carry them in our shop. The customer had already picked up power bait and some other items from the shelves- I had already noticed them since they were some of our resort guests. They said yes we are staying at Lilleys- thanks. We can't compete with Wal Mart on power bait and a few other items but we can on most plus carry more speciality items... flies, jigs, accessories.

BP's prices will be higher than most of us and still won't carry everything. And yes- both BP and WalMart advertise alot more than I so more power to them!!

Phil, wallyworld does not have the selection of pbait that you have. When ever we stay at your place we buy all our gear and pbait in your shop for two reasons: 1. we want you to continue to be successful and stay in business (no condos please) and 2. all of your folks can answer questions about what is working and not working and they are always right on. So what if it is a little bit higher. After staying with you for some 15+ years I doubt if the difference was more than a couple of large pizzas. :)
