Try Fin & Feather in Sgfd. I went to BPS a couple weeks ago and they were totally sold out. F&F still had a nice selection though.

Set the hook first, ask questions later...

You can just about bet the house that any time there are 2 or 3 threads on here talking about a particular bait, BPS will be sold out... Personally, I prefer the spook over the red fin. However, the red fin is much easier to use!

I agree. I think you have more control with the Spook, Spook jr and the Sammy. You can twitch, pause...twitch twitch, walk the dog fast or slow and so on. With all of that in mind the Mrs has really been beating me to death with the Red Fin. She casts it out, reels it in and giggles at me! Just plain fun!

Hey Techno! Quite sending me those emails!!! ;)

I'll be on the rock Saturday give me a call when you can. Also, Fann brothers?? I thought the derby was for law enforcement and safety officers only??? I'm in Mississippi all week and did not fish it.

It was not the Fann Brothers, it was just Mike Fann fishing with an officer. Only takes half of that team to win most any derby.. those Fann Brothers are not only fantastic fishermen, but for sure a couple of the nicest guys in the world. If I can't or don't win, I am for those "Stinkers." Beck and I duel with them most all year. Cannot say, that even when they beat us, that I don't smile. :touched: I just love those boys and what the stand for. I know Mike was fishing without Mark on this deal, but think about this. We would all love to be that close with our brother, and have that kind of a relationship. Truly a blessing from God. Those boys have a real gift for the Rock, and it shows.

Wind for us did not blow until 1 Pm and by then we were so lost we couldn't find our backside. Weighed in a little pride limit, and only caught about a dozen keeps, all males either SMJ's or K's.

Congrats to Eric Prey and Chris Tetrick they both had very good days.

Did win a $100 cranking battery and fished with my best friend, so it was a great day.

Wow! I feel like I have been taken down a notch...."for them stinkers, fishing with best friend." I guess your not going to name your next kid techo after all?

Sorry if I mislead....tried to say one of the Fann brothers. They can fish!

JEV....fishing AIA on Saturday. Hope to see you out there. Someone promised to show me his boat. Holy Cow! Did you move to Mississippi? Never see you anymore.

Kind of was interupted on my last post so to finish.....the Cops for Kids is a way to raise money for the Make a Wish Foundation and Cops to fish together. I can't remember for sure, but I think Water Patrol started it and now State Patrol runs it. They give away a Nitro boat most years (last year was four wheelers). Because of the lucrative drawing prize....it now looks like a Nascar race or an FLW/BASS event. Colored shirts galore! Local pros have their own officer to fish with. It has turned into something else. You still see a few flat bottoms with small motors, but it seems there are way more wrapped boats.

I fish for fun and hope to win the draw for the boat. I had two different local guide/pros tell me they knew people looking for cops to fish with so they could get in. I would rather fish with my buddy Dan and laugh all day long than fish with a pro. As a matter of fact we almost brought his eight year old kid too. Dan was concerned we would be disqualified for having three fisherman in the boat. I told him I didn't care and to bring Mason along. We didn't take him though as he would miss school.

The rules are one fisherman has to be a cop. They are opening it up to Firefighters and EMS now. I guess almost 200 boats isn't enough.

The bottom line is that it is still a fun tournament for me. I sure don't mind coming in 200th place to the quality of Cops' friends there. I am happy that one of the Fann brother won with a SPD cop as a partner. They don't talk down to us dumb guys just having fun. The Fann brothers area a class act and willing to talk fishing with you anytime. They seem a it tight lipped on GPS coordinates though!

I fish it every year despite my inability to catch fish. It's fun, for a good cause, and I could draw for a boat. I fished with my wife this year and we stunk it up. Caught a dozen short fish on fins and grubs, but I plan on being there next year. My goal is to break the top 20. I actually got close four years ago but haven't came close since. I'll just keep scanning this sight and keep fishing hoping to actually be a threat. (not likely)

I'd like to thank my FUTURE sponsers: Falcon Rods, Jewel Bait Co, and Seagar

Found them this morning at Bass Pro in Springfield. They were on a end cap at the end of the crank bait/top water isle. Walked past them half a dozen times, then asked for them and the nice lady said "they are right behing you" Go figure! They only had the shad and chrome colors on the end cap. She said that was due to both of them being the best sellers. I've read that just about everyone changes the rear hook out to a feathered hook and also changes the front hook. What size and color of hooks are they changing them out with? Thanks for all the help.

Take all the factory hardware off and throw it far away. Replace the split rings with smaller, front treble about a #4 Gamak, rear a feather or tinsel #2. Slap a couple of suspendots on the rear of the front belly (by the joint) on top of each other. Even then, as Mr. Babler once replied to a Q of mine, about half work right if you are lucky.

Can drop to a #6 up front if you get a bad one, sometimes helps. EWG's seem a little lighter than the RB, but have not weighed to verify. Big mono helps, so does playing with boat speed etc.

Started throwing the small Tru Tungsten floater swimbait in the last 2 weeks and really like it. The brown fish absolutely despise it, I mean hatred in their beady little eyes.

Hey techo, I didn't know about that tourney. It sounds like a great theme for one.

I'm a less-than-expert bass fisherman, but I'm a card-carrying retired cop. Keep me in mind for next year, as I'd like to fish that tournament and maybe have a good time and learn something besides. Anybody needing a cop partner so they can get in, steer 'em my way!
