conman Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Trav, Any recommendations or thoughts on how you would approach fishing Pomme this weekend? Thanks Chris Muddy and stained as of yesterday....today probably made it high as well.
Trav Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Trav, Any recommendations or thoughts on how you would approach fishing Pomme this weekend? Thanks Chris Focus on the clear water near the dam. Right now there is a lot of food in the river arms. Think crank baits and grubs...... "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
luckycraft Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Hey Trav, With rising waters will bass pull back up into the brush and bushes. Was wodering if they would be on to a gitzit or other plastic in the shallows, or is my thinking wrong? Thanks Mike
Trav Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Hey Trav, With rising waters will bass pull back up into the brush and bushes. Was wodering if they would be on to a gitzit or other plastic in the shallows, or is my thinking wrong? Thanks Mike I am sure you could do well with that tactic. I for one am not very interested in dragging baits on the bottom. I like to fish fast. Just a personal preference. If I was to do some pitching I would be more apt to use a tube. DChance Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 How are water conditions now with all the rain? JoeBass fished on Sat. what was the winning tactics?
conman Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 I was down this weekend and struggled on the Bass. The only bite we could find was on the bluffs on plastics and it was nothing to write home about. Water came up two feet from Friday eveing to Sat morning and is not 10 ft over normal. We stayed up in the dam area and the water is stained but by no means muddy. Chris
fishinwrench Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 If you like to pitch and flip, now is the time. Run to the very backs of the creeks and wooded coves, put the trolling motor on low, turn off the ticking transducers and humming livewell pumps.... move about as quietly as possible and flip jigs, tubes, or lizards to the shallow flooded cover. There's no such thing as too shallow right now, but you can't go into those shallow flats and stir up mud with the trolling motor, bumping off trees, ect. and expect to get many bites. If you are spooking turtles and cranes off the logs 30 yards away then you are creating too much ruckus. Good luck, go get'em !
