Fished Kings River just above Viola last night for about 3 hours. I am guessing that the rain and heavy cloud cover allowed the fish to feed pretty much all day as they really did not want much to do with anything we tried to offer them. Probably should have tried a drop shot before dark, but did not. Pretty much stuck with big worms and salt craws all evening. We caught a couple of shorts and my partner hooked up with one that would have easily gone over 4 pounds, but it got off just before we got it in the boat. My partner did have a nice 3 pound large mouth on a spook early in the evening.

Stars were out and it was a beautiful night even if the fish weren't biting all that well...

I ran up there on th 8th lauched at Big M and fished down to the Harbor resort, started on wind blown cliff walls then went into log jamed coves. We caught a lot of short fish off the bluff walls, there wasn't a color of worm they would not eat as long as it was 4in long. Then back in the coves we threw little double tailed grubs and were hitting 16-18 in largemouth out of every boat slip and all around the banks.

I had a monster that I could not turn on 10lb line run under the boat and back into a dock before wraping around a post and snaping the line. I had just pulled a 3lb bass out of the same slip and was 20 yards from the dock when he hit.

Even though the sun was brutal since we started at 3pm seeemed if you cast into any shade there was a fish.

For these two Beaver Lake anglers it was great to cacth some real fish. We will respool with some heavier line before returning.

My wife dove in a few times around the cliffs to cool off and said the ledges were covered with big brown crawfish.

Thats a good woman right there! Wish mine would dive under and see what the fish are eating and then report back. She would probably go look, but wouldn't tell me! cool.gif

My wife won't even get in the boat! If she did no way is she gonna dive over the side and go looking for what the fish are eating and even if she did she don't swim well and I would have to go and save her anyway.

Mine falls out of the boat periodically. I'll have to ask her to check out the forage supply next time she's underwater. Of course, since she's on this forum regularly, I probably just signed my own death warrant. :blur:

She may not kill you but she may hit you in the back of the head with a heavy jig or spoon completely by accident of course???

I remember fishing with my dad in a 14 1/2 boat and when he hit me on a back cast it was always my fault. So remeber to duck quick after comments like that.

Just because I haven't been on the forum lately doesn't mean your wicked ways won't catch up with you. I know where you live. And, besides, you've heard of a fish finder? The little boo-boo you didn't know the source of? That's one of those new-fangled RFID find-a-champ188 chips. Beware.

It's hard work keeping him in line. He moves fast for a big boy. :P
