I was trying to find a place to put in between Properine and Tunnel Dam. I drove to Berry Bluff but there was no where to put in at. I was going to drive all the way around to Lead Mine but I wasn't sure if there would be a place to put in there. Any ideas?!

Also, I wouldn't mind finding a place between Tunnel and Lake of the Ozarks either.

Lead Mine has two access. The second one down is just gravel but you miss couple good riffles using it.The first one though is good Ramp and gives you a chance to get lined out before hitting the riffles.

Instead of taking the left at Berry bluff go straight and take the next right to Bird island (there should be a sign on the tree). Stop at the trailer and someone will come out to take your 3.00 and tell you where to park.

Below Tunnel you can access at the Edith low water bridge off rt.E

Is that the same as the whistle bridge?

Yeah. Kind of an iffy place to leave your truck though. I had a problem with a group of chinks there once, asshole pulled a blade and it got a little tense for a few minutes.

Dern them chicks! Yeah it seems a little rough in the summer down there. Is there a place near Blue Spring to get in I wonder? The old road has huge signs up that say to keep out!

LOL Chinks..not "chics", although a chic with a knife is equally as threatening.

But about the road past the blue spring entrance...Yeah I know, I started down it once but chickened out. It didn't look like a tire had passed over it in a long long time. According to the topo map it leads to a really cool looking spot on the river. The boys at Bird island could tell you all about it. I tried to warm up to a dude at Blue Spring once but he wasn't very chatty.

For being reasoably close to Lake O and everything, that area is remote as hell and those folks live by their own rules. Kinda cool really, but I always get the feeling that I could "come up missing" real easy jackin' around out there. The old school teacher gal that ran the market up by Tunas used to tell some pretty freaky tales.
