gotmuddy Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 I have been waiting for this for months! no generation!! We are going to buffalo city and going up the buffalo at dawn but once the water drops we are going up river to hopefully tear up trout. See ya'll on the water. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
Ham Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 I hope to do so. I'll be up river from you. Likely in the Rim Shoals area. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Quillback Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Just got back, we spent a couple of days up near the dam. Yesterday three of us caught stocker rainbows (released them all) on spoons. They are running a lot of water right now, but the 2 days I was there, early in the AM they weren't quite running as much and that was the best time to fish. When they were running the water at it's max, we found the trout in shallow backwater eddy areas, they would be thick in some of those spots.
gotmuddy Posted July 2, 2010 Author Posted July 2, 2010 Fishing was good. We fished the buffalo from 6:30am to about 11:00 am(caught some nice brownies) and after a quick lunch at the ramp we headed up towards crooked creek. the water was LOW!!!!!!!!! I swear it took us an hour to get up the shoal that is just upstream from the ramp. We were the only people to even try other than a guy in a sweet inboard jet boat. That thing flew up the rapids. I caught probably 20 rainbows and a runt brown(15"). caught a few on a black/chrome crankbait but a large portion were caught on a 1/16"oz zigjig. about 4pm the fishing dropped to a standstill. Took forever to catch one last fish to finish our limit. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
Ham Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 I fished from 5 PM until 8 PM with my flyrod wading. Water was off for a change. Had decent success and learned a few things. Lots of action and got 15 or so to hand. I don't consider a 15 inch Brown a runt. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

I do because the biggest I have caught is 18" and that's still 6" short of a keeper everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
