Ideas For Fishing If They Are Generating?

I'm coming down next week with my family and I hope they don't generate. If they do, what would you recommend as an alternative?

I don't have a boat. I was hoping for some ideas about small creeks for smallies or something like that. Maybe the James River? I CnR everything.

I know you said NOT TROUT, but Roaring River is only an hour away and the zone 2 area is not terrible as far as the crowds go.

James River, Flat Creek, Swan Creek, Beaver Creek. All close and a good place to chase some warm water critters.

Thanks Vanven, I've fished RR and was looking for something other than trout park. Been to Crane also.

I was going to take Flysmaillies advice and float the James with James River Outfitters. Kerr to Galena. But with the rain it looks like the river shot up. I haven't given up on it though.

They ran a bunch today... hope they get it out of their "system".

Tomorrow it say no generation will afternoon BUT they wasn't truthful on today's guesstimate.

Table Rock is at 917 and although we've had some rain it's not enough to raise the level much. It's cool so I don't think they need to run it much.

We'll see.
