Members Carp E Diem Posted July 11, 2010 Members Posted July 11, 2010 I like the survey, interesting to see how the results will come out, but, the survey is not very scientific. On a couple questions you gave only two options, yes and no, but with a reason why yes or no, which might bias voters into voting the opposite way because they didn't agree with the reason you gave for the answer. Next time, don't give reasons unless you make all options available or an option like "no - for other reasons." Kinda nitpicking I know, but it made it very hard for me to vote on the last two questions, maybe for others also. Just a thought. Keep the reports coming, very informative as always, Thank you! Members slowroller Posted July 11, 2010 Members Posted July 11, 2010 I have no problem with someone keeping their limit of fish to take home and feed his family, however he can only do this once a day. We have people going out 2 to 4 times per day. Some are from other parts of the country, coming in here to deplete our fish. Hey Bob question? On your web site you show a "Split trip", 4 hours in the morning and 4 in the evening. Say me and my two brothers book this for the 400 bucks and go out in the morning and catch a limit of walleye in the first hour and have 3 hours left and go and catch a limit of crappie too. Do you refund half of the money or do we just catch and release in the evening? If so, what does this mean "a chance for catching more fish "? Plus, they're from Kansas is that okay ? PS nice web site !! Lots of dead fish! How many fish do you kill a year? Me? ..0! But I'm just a weekend guy, like those in your poll....

Once you reach your limit for the day, you're done keeping...not because your guide says, but because the law says. PS nice web site !! Lots of dead fish! How many fish do you kill a year? Me? ..0! I'm far from a scientist, LOL. I didn't think this would get this big of a response or it would have been nice to have some better worded questions. I had just got a phone call from a group that I took out and they were telling me about "all" the fish that they took back home with them. It really made me angry since they lived out of state and it sounded like they were way over the limit. So when I was talking to mdc and I asked them about having to give your name they said you could do anonymous reports. As far as straw hats comment, if you don't give them a name, then they won't have a name to come back on. call 911 from a pay phone or someplace else and it's over. Sorry that someone went thru all that trouble to get your name and harrass you and your family, but it takes all of us working together to stop all the poachers etc. The agents are to few and it's impossible for them to know everything that is going on. They might not even be able to respond sometimes, if they are on something else, but at least they will know it happened etc. I think I'll go fishing now. Boats already hooked up!! Good luck to eveyone. Gilly Posted July 12, 2010 Posted July 12, 2010 Why the age specific questions? Do the locals have an aversion to 'visitors'? Seems to me that most of the tourney participants aren't locals but we recognize the value they bring to the economy. Very rarely am I close enough to another boat to see their catch but wrong (illegal) is wrong regardless. Bob, you spend a lot of time on Stockton and if your poll questions reflect even a fraction of what you witness......good Lord that would frustrating! Not sure what your point is but you can only get one daily limit a day. once you get to that point, then you have to catch and release, and this would easy cover what I mean in "a chance for catching more fish". Plus you shouldn't have that problem since you don't keep fish, you can fish all day and not worry about it. This only counts the fish that you keep and kill, as you say in your post, you do not kill any fish. As far as being from kansas, that has nothing to do with your limits, it applies to everyone the same. Everyone has the same daily limits on all fish, regardless of where you come from. The point of this survey was to encourage people to call the agents if they see something going on that is illegal. We have the best lake in the state and it would be nice to keep it that way. Keep what is legal and throw back what is not. And no I don't have any aversion to visitors, but the locals that break the laws here will probably eventually get caught, the ones that come in swoop up all the fish they can catch, and then get out of town is a problem because they are not here long enough to get caught. not enough agents etc. the visitor thing was just an observation and was not meant to offend anyone. I will look over the original post and change if it looks bad. thanks Bob Bennett Stockton Lake Guide Servicehttp://fishstocktonlake.com 417-637-BASS"Our Service is Crappie" ”And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Stockton Lake Guide Service Posted July 12, 2010 Author Posted July 12, 2010 If I called the law every time I thought I saw a violation, I'd keep the agent's phone pretty busy. I chose to pick and chose violations. If I think he can get to the violator, catch him red handed, then I'll call. But if it's something that I know would be tough to prove or catch, then I won't waste his time. The culling question - I wouldn't call on. It's not that I don't AGREE with the law, I just wouldn't call. You better be sure the fish are short... I have made calls before when I was WRONG and the agent wasn't real happy with me. Not that I should have NOT called him, I just should have been SURE there was a violation before calling. If it's a trout in the trophy area and it looks to be close, I won't call. If it's clearly in the slot, I'll talk to the people and then call if they don't heed my warning. totally agree lilley, I don't call unless I think they can make it to them. Or if the person leaves after I call, I will call back and let them know it's over etc. Nothing wrong with talking directly to the people either. Some people just don't know the rules and need some help, but the ones that do this intentionally are the ones tht need tickets. How is the trout fishing down there??
