flytyer57 Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 The name Bush pushes buttons. I should have said former president. How right you are. Even if the right is wrong and the left is right. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Trav Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 No surprise here...I have ran away from Branson theatres....Nelly might have actually brought me back for a few hours. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
Chief Grey Bear Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 There is plenty of Bush and Clinton Derangement Syndrome out there...enough to go around for both sides. I agree there. I guess they think it makes for good tv or radio. I was just sorta pointing out the hypocritical ASSpect of it. And there is no doubt that it comes from both teams. It is just we like it when it is about the other team. Flysmallie Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 If more of the stars (who have influence with their fans) would speak up, Not picking on you flytyer, but this is something that really irks me. People will listen to a "star" for political advice, but just because they are famous doesn't mean they are intelligent. Some probably are, but most are not. anyone want to ask Lindsay Lohan how she feels you should vote in the next election? How about Lady Gaga, Nelly, OJ or any of the other "stars".
Gatorjet Posted July 21, 2010 Author Posted July 21, 2010 OK, now this thread has turned to politics rather than it's original intent. Is a new direction for Branson entertainment really needed? My OP about Branson jumping the shark was meant to ask if the new owner of the Grand Palace is trying too fast for a change in direction for Branson. I'll keep coming to Branson regardless of the entertainment in the theaters. My entertainment is on Taneycomo! I just think that a lot of people who spend a lot of time and money in Branson do so to get away from the urban way of life, and enjoy Branson the way it has been. Maybe it's time for Phil to pull the plug on this one! Real men go propless!
Flysmallie Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Is a new direction for Branson entertainment really needed? I think so. The old has beens are just getting older and their audience is getting older as well. I have never been to a Branson music show. There is nothing there that interests me as far as music shows. They need something to bring in a younger crowd with more disposable income. Is Nelly the answer, uh...no. But they shoud try to do something to bring in some different crowds.
strangercreek Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 I personally don't take any advice from entertainers about anything, except maybe what Tequila to try (Cabo Wabo is pretty smooth), or what show to see (I listened to Holly Madison in Vegas and saw her show, it was awesome, seeing her live ) I did not mean to turn this into a political discussion but it seems people are just chomping at the bit to be provoked these days.

But they shoud try to do something to bring in some different crowds. What would you say is the demographic of Nelly's followers? 15-25 or something like that. Do they have the disposable income of say the 35-55 age group? Will they be spending money in craft shops, restaurants, motels etc. Yes, some of the established entertainers are getting old, but isn't there something in between Andy Williams and Nelly that would bring in an age demographic similar to what was the mainstream when I first started coming to Branson. Now, I'm one of the old fogies, but I would certainly make the trip from St. Louis to see Skynard, Charlie Daniels, Even Uncle Ted flinging a flaming arrow across the stage! I think a lot of other classic rock performers in addition to a lot of the "new" country (new country = old rock) artists would bring in more people with money to spend than Hip Hop and Rap.. Real men go propless!
