Donna G Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 I'm still on the hunt for a good knot that I can easily tie to attach braid to a mono or fluorocarbon leader. I want to try yellow braid on my spinning reel I use to shakey head fish with, mainly so I can see my line in the water better. Babler told me about a double surgeon knot which looks pretty good and I thought I had it figured out, but sometimes it holds and sometimes it slips right through so I think I'm not doing it right. I looked at a few diagrams on the Internet, but maybe there is a better demo that what I saw. Forget the blood knot. I can't conort like that. lol I did come across an Albright knot that a local angler gave me, but I haven't tried it yet. What's your favorite knot for attaching braid to a leader and maybe the link for a good diagram or video demo? gotmuddy Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 thats what I use to make leaders. so far it has worked good. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

Gavin Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 I use a triple surgeons...probably not the strongest knot out there, but its quick & easy...Lots of guys use it in the salt. Cheers. http://www.doalures.com/uploads/Docs/9102_DOA_10.28__Knot_Page.pdf
shaker Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Go to the Stren web site and look up knots, there they have a knot for attaching braid to mono or florocarbon forget the name of it but works well for me.
motoman Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Albright, +1. Used it for years in the exact sceneario you mention. My vision is not what it used to be, and beaing able to see that bright colored braid, is great. It's not an easy knot to tie on the water though. So I have a few spools ready to swap out on the fly if needed. - Here's some animated links too. - http://www.animatedknots.com/indexfishing.php?LogoImage=LogoGrog.jpg&Website=www.animatedknots.com
Flippin Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Double Uni I have tied many floro leader to braid. It has never come untied and it easy to tie.
steveearle Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 i second the double uni....I have been tying it since I was 12 for all line connections....
CMAC Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 I have been using braid and flouro for years now on all spinning tackle and love it. I thought my not was a blood knot, but after looking at the diagram it may be the double uni? Sounds like something you'd do off the high dive.
Stump bumper Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 The J knot is simple and easyand supposed to be as strong as any other. I like a swivel.knot wars
