ollie Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Another Black bear has been hit on the road and this time it was only about 10 miles from my house! Actually the way I read it, it was hit not far from Neosho out in the country. They are back, make no mistake about it! Here is the link. http://www.neoshodailynews.com/newsnow/x839828841/Vehicle-strikes-black-bear-outside-Neosho "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
denjac Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 That makes two bears hit in 2 or 3 months within a 20 mile radius. I wonder since both were young males, if they were brothers that had been sent on there way by Momma? Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. fishinwrench Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Wouldn't it suck to be a bear in this heat ? Might be kinda cranky
T-RockJaws Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 This past mothers day, my family was eating lunch down at Roaring River. After lunch, I took my wife and kids up to the top of the hill going towards Seligman to look at some cabins. When we turned the corner coming off the highway into the long driveway, there was a very good sized bear trying to get in the trash cans. We sat and watched for several minutes before the bear decided we were too close and headed back off into the woods. Sure was neat to see one in the wild and my young boys were absolutely amazed!
Buzz Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I for one am glad they are making a comeback. I have yet to see one in the wild and am looking forward to it. The area where this bear was found is near a lot of conservation land. There's no telling how many more are located in that huge expanse of forest and farmland. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
Flyflinger Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I hear tell of cougars being sighted around Sullivan....I hope they don't like the taste of flyfisherman. There is no limit to what a man can do or how far he can go if he doesn't mind who gets the credit
flytyer57 Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I hear tell of cougars being sighted around Sullivan....I hope they don't like the taste of flyfisherman. Cougars and bear like the smell of fish. They only attack those who keep fish for dinner and feed on them. CPR. Catch Photo and Release. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
denjac Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I thought I saw bigfoot one time running across the road in front of me near Forest Mill on Spring river. Turns out it was just Chief !! ollie Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 I could see how you could mistake Chief for a big hairy bigfoot! Buzz, from what I heard today he was hit over by Newt road on 59 highway and not on HH. That's close to Hickory Creek. Right next to the creek basically. Not sure if the info is correct or not though. Was he covered in freckles and cussing like a sailor? Ollie, I had a feeling he ( the Bear not Chief ) might be down around Hickory Creek. Looks like we may be picking up more than Wal-Mart bags this Fall. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
