Chief Grey Bear Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Now that is some funny stuff right there. Especially since I like to hang out around Forest Mill. Report I got on the bear was at 59/60 and Owl Rd. Right in that curve. denjac Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Was he covered in freckles and cussing like a sailor? I did get a picture of the beast. Its a little blurry but you can clearly see its Chief AND NOT A BIGFOOT ! Didnt want to get any bigfoot rumors started !! Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. Buzz Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Yep, that's him alright. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
troutfiend1985 Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 I hear tell of cougars being sighted around Sullivan....I hope they don't like the taste of flyfisherman. I tell you, the Black Bears doesn't scare me as their generally timid, but the idea of Mountain Lions does. A golf course in the KC area has been claiming for years that they have been seeing Mountain Lion prints in the bunkers in the morning. The idea of being stalked is creepy. “The greatest menace to freedom is an inert people” J. Brandeis
Chief Grey Bear Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Now boy's, that has to be the funniest thing I have ever seen on this forum! That is absolutely classic!!!!!! TF1985, I don't know about a Moutain Lion but, when I lived in KC and fished J.A. Reed a lot, I saw the absolute biggest Bobcat of my life. This sucker had to be in the 50lb range at least. laker67 Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Around "05", we had a confirmed report of cougar tracks in southwest camden county. My friend Rob, owns property on spencer creek near ha ha tonka state park. On his property is a fairly large spring that feeds spencer creek. He maintains the spring and small pool of water for the wildlife. Over the years he has come to reconize the tracks of different animals that use the spring. One morning he finds huge tracks like he has never seen before. He took pictures and delivered them to the mdc office here in camdenton. The next day, someone from mdc visited the spring and confirmed the tracks as being that of a large male cougar. A few days later, someone reported seeing a cougar near tunnel dam, but it was never confirmed that I am aware.
id10t Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 So does this mean that maybe there is a natural solution to the Otter problem. Bigfoot, Bears, Cougars, Mountain Lions & Chief One of them should be able to keep them in check.
Chief Grey Bear Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 It would appear that away. But otters are so dang cute! I really need to get one of those suits and hang out on Elk River. Priceless!!!! ollie Posted August 17, 2010 Author Posted August 17, 2010 You do that down there Chief and you might just get shot! "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
