jdmidwest Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Isn't clubbing of seals a valid form of hunting for them? As long as they dispatch them with a quick brain bash, its all over but the crying. The fur and meat are not all tore up from a bullet. It is a quick, painless death. But it is not for the squeamish. eric1978 Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 It is a quick, painless death. I'll assume you've never had your melon bashed in with a stick so you don't know what the hell you're talking about. Part of the outrage over clubbing the seals was that the people doing it weren't interested in the meat. They clubbed them, skinned them, and left the carcasses on the ground to waste. Disgusting human arrogance at its finest.

Same theory, you bash the animal over the head with a small shovel, you skin the animal, sell the pelt, and dispose of the carcass. It is humane and legal in MO. Fly_Guy Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 it is legal. and awful, painful, drawn-out way to die (being stuck in a metal trap for hours), but legal nonetheless. I wouldn't do it to another human, I wouldn't do it to an animal except in need of food.
Trevor K Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I didn't say it was something that I wanted to go do. I would think that if it was done correctly it is just as humane and any other way of killing an animal. But, like I said, that is just my opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own
Chief Grey Bear Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Sin - is separation from a man and God. My question is and has always been that before the new world was discovered and the bible and its teachings were spread, all of those in western hemisphere supposedly went to hell? That is one thing I never understood about Coyote hunting. The pelt is worth less than the bullet it took to kill it. And I don't know of anyone that has ever eaten one. I watched some idiots on tv the other day shooting prairie dogs. Had some kind of super caliber rifles. Cut them plumb in half. Never even picked up the carcasses. Real sportsmen. Fly_Guy Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 My question is and has always been that before the new world was discovered and the bible and its teachings were spread, all of those in western hemisphere supposedly went to hell? I have wondered this as well. I think the thing that I take comfort in is that God is good, and knows proper judgement (discernment) more than we can even imagine. If our premise is that God is good, and we know intrinsically that it would be wrong for everyone who hadn't heard of his Word to be put in hell, then we can infer that he has a just plan, but perhaps hasn't shared it with us. The bible is a book of the little we know of God, and it does well to get us what we need - the knowledge of how to please him, and the knowledge of our salvation. I would expect the books of things we do NOT know about God and his nature would fill many many shelves. That's why, while I know in my heart what is right, I am slow to criticize the beliefs of others. Many questions we don't know the answer to - but I wouldn't get upset if humans can't provide the answers. Has anyone eaten coyote?

Never even picked up the carcasses. Real sportsmen. I know some of these idiots. The ranchers beg them to come in and kill as many as possible to control the population. I guess in some areas they are a big problem. My only memory of them is going as a kid and feeding them bread because they were so cute. There used to be a game you could download off the internet called Prairie Dog Hunter or Killer or something.

Ok, I can't hold my tongue anymore. If your God is all-knowing and all-powerful, then it can't be a good God. It can be a good God, but then it is either not omniscient or not omnipresent. It's called the "Problem of Evil". And if you dive into the Old Testament just a little, I'm sure you will come to the conclusion that your own morals are far better than those of the god of the Bible. Unless you think that slavery, genocide, rape, murder, incest, blood sacrifice and many other horrific atrocities, are in any way moral. What about this god is good???? Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful.
