mosouthpaw Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 was browsing tacklewarehouse.com tonight and stumbled upon Brad's Wigglers http://www.bsfishtales.com/index.php I was wondering if the wigglers were spawn of the original pre rapala wiggle warts or are these a copy?
Ham Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Call the guys at TW and ask. I was guessing they are custom repaints of stock warts, but that's as much as I thought about it. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
rps Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 They have been around a long time. I don't know the real deal, but I believe they somehow got mold copies without getting sued and shutdown. FWIW, a little over a year ago I found a sale on them and bought a fist full. You cannot tell them from original series warts except for the line tie. However, the percentage of baits that needed tuning to run straight approached 50%, and I found some I never could get tuned.
T-RockJaws Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 I believe these are about as close to the original as you will find though...
gotmuddy Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 why not just buy the original wiggle warts? everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
Wayne SW/MO Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 why not just buy the original wiggle warts? I was wondering the same thing, at least now that they have reappeared? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Stump bumper Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 I was wondering the same thing, at least now that they have reappeared? What you get at the store as the "orignal" is a Rapala copy made in China and does not have the same plastic or rattles that were in the original made in OK back in the 80s that is why evryone is crazy about finding the old ones and repaiting them. I think it is a lot of a confidence thing, and a lot of marketing by local bass pros who come in with twice the lbs of fish and when asked what they caught them on it is an old hard to find lure customed painted by a friend. Then when you invest $20-$40 it has to be better than the lure you paid $4.95, then your buddy see's the lure and and has to have a $40 lure and it goes from there. If someone is leading a tournament series and everyone knows what they are throwing that is the first thing to elimante as what they are actully catching fish on.
gotmuddy Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 The ones from wal-mart for $4.16 work good for me. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
motoman Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 The ones from wal-mart for $4.16 work good for me. -I saw those Brad Wiggleres over there on TW too. And was thinking the same thing as gotmuddy. Those Brad Wigglers are no bargains compared to the original either, and you're not really getting any custom paint job from the looks of things. -I would imagine they are just some less expensive blanks Brad's paints. But looking more closely, a LOT of their patterns look just like Wiggle Wart patterns!?!!?!?.........that confuses me?
T-RockJaws Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 I cannot find any that are as easy to tune and run as true as the originals. Besides, I hate to buy things made in China, seems like everything is made in China these days and the quality is junk!!!
