Members longcast Posted September 6, 2010 Members Posted September 6, 2010 Talked to a fellow that said he was issued two $60.00 ticket on Stockton for not having title and registration on his trolling mtr. Said a new law started 6 months ago. Anyone know about this?
Dutch Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Haven't heard of it. Who issued the ticket? http://search.mo.gov/search?q=trolling+motor&site=dor&output=xml_no_dtd&client=dor&num=10&proxystylesheet=dor&x=46&y=14
redbud Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Was it a gas powered kicker type outboard meant for trolling?Lots of guys who run walleye have a set up like this.
Wayne SW/MO Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 I believe, if I remember right, electrics had to be licensed at one time. It was eventually recognized as another ridiculous burden and repealed. If its been reinstated I would be surprised because the news around here reports those kinds of things. Maybe it was a kicker. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
fishinwrench Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 They quit titling electric trolling motors about 15 years ago, if they have changed up again (which would not suprise me) I haven't heard about it. Titles and registrations on TM's is crazy, the identifying numbers are always on the plastic control box housing....which gets damaged and replaced frequently. There is no way to confirm that any TM is titled correctly if the serial number sticker is missing.
gotmuddy Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 its just another way for the state government to make revenue. I had heard MO was doing that, but thankfully arkansas has none of that mess. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
Members longcast Posted September 6, 2010 Author Members Posted September 6, 2010 The man said it was water patrol issuing ticket. Talked to a conservation agent & he said yes, the law had passed & trolling mtrs. would have to be titled & registered.Guess we are all in violation.

Sounds like a cheap way for the locals to make money. Pass a law and not tell anyone, just issue tickets. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
