FishinCricket Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Yes it is a code, and if you don't already "get it" then you probably don't need to. Ah, "Code of the Master-Baiters" eh? Got it... cricket.c21.com

We all know that fish don't bite when the river is up and muddy... And the big ones most certainly aren't lazy opportunists, as I'm sure your articles will indicate.. Quit leading people on like this! Sure wish you'd quit blabbing about my methods! Next thing you know you'll be extolling the virtues of pink maribou jigs in those situations!! stlfisher Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 1)Fall is my favorite time to fish since I mostly fish for trout these days. The changing of the seasons on a crisp morning makes for an enjoyable day even if the fish are not behaving. Brown Trout begin to get active. 2)Winter - fishing in the snow, more solitude, Urban Trout progam (close to home trout fishing for me), and C/R season at the trout parks. Often very good trout fishing and it is often warmer in the water on those spring fed creeks. 3)Summer - active fish, longer days for fishing, hopper fishing, and low clear water for site fishing. 4)Spring - Fishing picks up for warm water species. Spawning bass and bluegill make for a great time on a fly rod. Nice to warm the bones after a cold winter. Streams begin to get crowded after the long winter.

Larry Richards Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 I have to go with fall as my number 1 just for the numbers of fish followed by winter to early spring when I have the lakes to myself.I love to fish jerkbaits and wiggle warts and winter to early spring is the best time for those baits.

Members Scott C Posted September 23, 2010 Members Posted September 23, 2010 Being a farmer in Iowa means that most of the time fall and spring are pretty tough times to get fishing with harvest and planting seasons in full swing but I get out fishing during those seasons whenever i can. Lately my favorite season for fishing has been winter. It's no secret here in Iowa that we get some pretty cold long winters but that also makes for a great ice fishing season. It's a time of year that we really have not much else going on so I fish more in the winter than any of the other seasons. But if I had to rank them it would be this. 1 Winter (ice fishing) 2 Fall 3 Spring 4 Summer
Gavin Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I like em all for different reasons...I like fishing in the Winter for the solitude, and the look of the woods in Winter..you hike and see all the stuff that you can't see in the other seasons. I enjoy spring fishing to witness nature in bloom..I enjoy Summer for swimming, family fun, & smallmouth action...And I love the Fall so I can witness nature change into its winter state. Its all good..
