laker67 Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Missed you at the crappie dock Kdan. That black crappie, that I called you about, was 14.5 x 10.25 . Using the formula, it weighed a fraction over 2lbs 5oz. It's been a while since I've caught one that size. Sandy took a couple of pics and I put him back for seed. I'll attempt to post a pic later.
fishinwrench Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Dumb question but do shad "do it" in the fall looks like they are spawning. I see them up along the banks sometimes circling and sometimes all bunched up right on the banks in little pockets doesn't look like feeding activities more like spawning action? That's not a dumb question at all. Shad spawn in mid to late Spring, The optimum spawning water temperature is supposed to be about 65-70 degrees. The mass migrations you see in the Fall are plankton driven, I assume.

Laker, today was family day, for early Thanksgiving. so spent the day cooking and eating. It was a great time. Man, I really miss spending time with my sons. That was a really nice crappie. A big calico, was it? Too dang big to eat though. Gotta have those 9-10 inchers for that. YOU DONE GOOD!
