During my first trip to Blue Springs Creek, I noticed a ton of crawdads with light/dark brown banding. I was curious if anyone has tried to a crawdad fly there?

I'm sure the larger trout will eat them but most of the fish are probably too small to show much interest (6-8") on average. There are also a ton of bleeding shiners, small caddis, & scuds in that creek......Mohair leaches in ginger, brown, & olive are always very effective on the wild trout creeks. Might imitate a craw, but who knows......egg patterns are deadly on those creeks as well. Cheers.

IMHO, a stealthy approach will compensate for any fly choice on this kind of water.

I tie a Don's Crawdad down to size #12 and have had success at Little Piney & Crane.
