gotmuddy Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 I bought a 7' medium action pro qualifier rod for my jig fishing rod. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
bigredbirdfan Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 We were missing a budget. $30 Bass-Pro Micro Lites are hard to beat if money is an issue. 6'5" is my peferred jigging rod for 1/8 oz and 1/16 oz. If money were no option and you don't care get the Falcons.
ollie Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 If money were no option and you don't care get the Falcons. Finally someone agrees with me! "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
Members T Hood Posted December 5, 2010 Author Members Posted December 5, 2010 Sadly, gentlemen, money is definitely an option. I still haven't found one that I like that fits the budget. Still looking.
Members Fredrick Posted December 19, 2010 Members Posted December 19, 2010 I use an ultra light ulgy stick and I like it . But the cheap o micro spin UL shake spear spinning rod with the cork handle had tons more feel. With that and rod (it was a gift to me)you could feel a minnow sneeze near your bait. It broke on a snag . But hey it lasted 8 months and I got some bigger bass and trout on it and I abused it. I see it every time when I go to wall mart . Now it comes bigger spooled reel on it. For 19.99 you cant beat it if your on a budget. It was probably the the rod I caught the most fish on in my life. I have had a bunch of ultra lights in my day that one gets an A++++ for feel and a C for durability . I will most likely buy another as an extra rod . Fish on!! jagermeister anyone?
Rolan Duffield Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 I agree with BredMan that Phil at Lilleys landing has some very nice rods in 6' and 6.5' lengths at a fair price. Check with him.

mic Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 I use both...in the parks and rivers, I use a 7 foot UL rods. I find it really helps with casting and landing fish. On the small spring creeks, I use a 4.5 rod. I feel it helps me keep the casts low in the heavy overhang.

Cabela's was nice enough to keep the cost down with a sale. It's strung with 4# fluorocarbon and does a nice job of getting the light stuff out into the lake or stream. I plan on using this quite a bit past trout season. It'll make a good rod for crappie as well. Regards,

Regards, Flurocarbon has no give for jig fishing, I've tried it so if you plane on fishing jigs other than jig n float you will need mono. I use flurocarbon 2lb as leader material but I use green mono on the spinning reel.
