mrgungho Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Their isn't blade on the scrounger. You maybe looking at the Fishead Spin made by Swarming Hornet Lure CO. I think Bilfo is refering to the clear plastic piece as "the blade" and Bilfo, amazingly enough it's actually just a piece of very flexible silicone. I know when I was looking at these before I bought some, I thought it was a stiff piece of plastic like the lip of a crankbait, but it's not at all. It's very flexible and you can pop it right off if you wanted. The little lip basically forms a small cup around the head of the jig and this creates a wobble for whatever soft plastic you decide to put on there. I tell you what, for how much they charge for these things I think I am going to try to start making my own! It's like $5 for a 4pack of 1/4oz. or a 3pack of 1/2oz. Basically it gives your soft plastics that crank bait wobble and you control the depth with your retrieve speed. I am going to get out there Saturday and use some with some Jr. Flukes and some Kalins Lunker Grubs..I'll try to report on how it goes. I have had luck in the past using 1/4oz medium bill with a white fluke. There are certain times when the Bass just can't get enough off them. I was fishing a winter series tournament last year and caught LM,SM,KY and even a Striper that went around 15lbs. all with a Scrounger. Great lure. Very versatile. Catches Fish.
Larry Eby Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Try a swimming senko on that scrounger. You'll want to buy a tube of super glue to keep it on, those senkos are a 1-2 fish soft plastic. But, guaranteed to bend your pole.
