oneshot Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Is Bennett holding back Trout because of rebuilding the Hatchery? Seems last several months been slow.Just wondering if I'm wasting time until they get up and running. oneshot
mic Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 I'm a once a year Bennett guy, but I thought they didn't release fish in the winter?
oneshot Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 I'm a once a year Bennett guy, but I thought they didn't release fish in the winter? Yes in years past they have kept the river pretty well stocked. As matter fact I've seen them stock with snow on the Ramps. oneshot
jdmidwest Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 I don't know for sure on Niagua and what the Bennett Hatchery stocks, but the Montauk Hatchery which supplies fish for the Eastern Ozarks only stocks rivers March thru Oct, once a month. They do sometimes do a midwinter stock in the Eleven Point in Dec. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson

jdmidwest Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Could be low water or lack of production at the Bennett Hatchery, don't know. Take a trip to the hatchery and strike up a conversation with one of the hatchery guys or the manager. They will probably explain what is going on. I'm thinking its because of all the work their doing on the Hatchery. Its ok I'm sure once their done it will get back to normal or even better.I was down there today they was hard at it. oneshot
eric1978 Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Just because you're not catching them doesn't mean they're not there. We must have caught 100 or more of them last Wednesday.
Trout Commander Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Sounds like they are all sore lipped! I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
bigredbirdfan Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Just because you're not catching them doesn't mean they're not there. We must have caught 100 or more of them last Wednesday. On the Niangua or CNR in the park?
