That is the leftist's M.O.

As usual, you're asking me for information that is readily available at your fingertips if you'd invest about 30 seconds of research.

But fine. You want it, you got it.

Here are a couple reasons to think twice about nuclear power plants. Accidents DO happen, and people DO suffer as a result of them. How would you feel if that happened to YOUR kid?

There are vastly more disturbing images out there...go check 'em out.

You need to go back and reread what I wrote. I never said anything about big oil having a measured concern with renewable energy. They should though since their livelihoods are at risk when there is no more oil.

I seem to be having a problem a problem seeing the difference here. Wind and solar will NEVER be efficient in any time frame to help the planet as you wish.

As for the "Rushbeckian" comment, I'm trying to get you to lose the attitude that is so outrageously demonstrated by the likes of Rush and Beck saying that if we go to "renewable energy" it would destroy the economy and bankrupt the nation along with killing all the jobs...

Have I said those things? No I haven't, but I am practical and I know throwing money after pie in the sky ideas that tend to make billionaires long before we get results is all to common.. I know that any source of renewable energy should be able to produce power within a reasonable distance of consumers, able to run 24 hours and just as important, be able to stay with fluctuating demands. I think electric cars are a perfect example of putting the cart before the horse, while we struggle with higher energy cost and more and more pollution from coal powered generating plants, we're to believe that electric cars are making a difference. Whether you belch co2 out of an exhaust pipe or a smoke stack, it's still co2.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

We've only had a problem with Islamic terrorism since we've had troops there.

Actually, it has been since we've had an open cash register door policy with Isreal.

have you ever listened to beck?

Made me want to knock the bs right out of him and some sense in.

Quote: "Maybe, just maybe, if we can get our government out of the pockets of big oil, coal etc., they will get into funding renewable energy sources that will make us able to use wind, solar etc. efficiently instead of giving their greedy contributors tax breaks."

Not talking about big oil, it's the the government.

Given time and technology, renewable energy sources could become pliable. Why come off sounding like a defeatist against the idea? Remember, the defeatists said they would never walk on the moon.

Yes it is still CO2. But how many miles does the car get from a charge, and how much CO2 is put into the atmosphere to run that car per mile as per using an internal combustion engine? And why can't that source of energy for the electric car come from a wind mill or solar panel instead of a coal plant? Because too many naysayers are keeping that from happening with their "Rushbeckian" philosophy.

I don't know, how many? And why can't that source of energy for the electric car come from a wind mill or solar panel instead of a coal plant? Well it could, as long as you charge it on sunny windy days. What do we do for electricity at night? Do we have to pay to maintain other forms of generation for night use, or is there some plan I've missed? Because too many naysayers are keeping that from happening with their "Rushbeckian" philosophy. You just need to quit listening to them, I don't and if you hadn't told me I wouldn't have known I suffer from Rushbeckian!

Wayne, get that Rushbeckian checked out ASAP. The rash you get with that is nothing to mess with . . .rolleyes.gif

I wish I had more time more than I wish I had more money.

When they built the World Trade Center Towers, they thought they would be able to withstand the impact of an airplane.

They did. It was the intense heat from the jet fuel fire that melted steel.

I don't know either but I do know it's a step in the right direction.

The energy stored in electric cars is DC batteries. You can run a windmill or collect from a solar panel and store it in the batteries. Ain't gotta worry about night time wind or light.

Eric, you're jumping the shark with the Chernobyl pictures. Yes, it's disturbing. The difference, of course, is Chernobyl was built by the Soviets in the 1970's. The Soviets have never had a good record of safety. The reactor was built without any sort of containment structure.

US nuclear reactors have always been safer. We had one little hiccup at 3 mile Island, and the general consensus reached by multiple independent studies is that nobody has ever been affected by it. That was 30 years ago, and we've learned a lot about building and running reactors since then. The reactors I think will be the wave of the future are not the old liquid water coolant reactors. They're cooled by molten salt, and according to everything I've read, much safer.

Now, don't get me started on electric cars. The darn things depend on Lithium batteries. Lithium is a rare earth metal. Can you guess who mines 97% of all rare earth metals on this earth? China, that's who. Battery powered cars will be an interesting footnote in history 20 years from now, God willing.
