gitnby Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Spring-like weather comin our way for the next 5 days! Any guesses on what the bite will be this weekend? Jerkbait would seem to be the ticket?
Champ188 Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Jerk bait is my guess, gitnby. Maybe a finesse jig along steeper (60-degree) banks with big rock. And there's sure to be a spoon bite along deep channel ledges at the mouths of the creeks. I'm thinking about getting up from this computer and heading up to Baxter in a bit. I'll post a report if I do.
rps Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 If the good weather holds through Saturday, I will head above Beaver town and jerk bait for early walleye. When I do that the bonus is the occasional bass.

Cajunangler Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Looks like several of us are getting cabin fever. I plan to go somewhere this Saturday and as of now haven't found a partner for the day. If anyone would like to join up with me send me a PM. I am sure some of you out there have winterized your boat and we are still a little early for thinking old man winter has given up just yet. I don't worry with that since mine is used a little every month of the year. I'm in Nixa but could also meet at any of the ramps at the lake. I can't promise we'll load the boat but we'll have a good time trying.

I haven't fished in a few weeks cause my throttle cable broke on my 91 Ranger and should be done this week. I need to go fishing very badly.Let me know if you are interested.
troutgnat Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Well guys I can tell ya that the jerkbait bite was not hard core today. I had the pleasure to fish with (denjac), another O.A.F. member on here. We fished the dam area and had two fish today, one each on a jerkbait. One just shy keeper Kentucky on a Megabass(denjac) and a keeper largemouth on a custom Pointer (me). We each had a couple other "swipes" with no hook ups. Tried to spoon up a few with no takers. BTW........Wow, is the lake low! Darren Sadler "Fishing is an Education...Often the fish 'school' me, yet I do not complain. I just keep going to class!"
Cajunangler Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Sorethumbs I already have plans on Sunday. The only other option I could make happen would be a trip on Friday but I figured most guys would prefer the weekend option. If that would work let me know otherwise we'll try and get a trip planned a little later this winter/early spring.
