I'm going to pick up a half dozen or so of the deep running walleye plugz for trolling BSL. I'm sure they all work, but should I start with Rapala Tail Dancers, Reef Runners, or the new Cordell Walleye trolling plug. I've was told by one guy that the Reef Runners require a lot of tuning to get them to run correctly.

Thanks

Not exactly your answer, but I and another fellow I know have had good walleye success on Berkely Flicker Shads - weight above

I am one of those who regularly fish for walleye, and most often I troll. I use 10/4 braid so bear that in mind for my answers. Down to 15 feet I use Berkley Flicker Shad, Bandit Flat Maxx, and Storm Deep Thin Fins. 15 to 25 feet, I use Storm Original Warts, Bomber Fat Free Shad, Cordell Wally Divers, and Storm Thunder Shad. I also use the Cabelas knock off of the Reef Runner. Below 25 feet I go to the Deep Walleye Bandit, the larger Cabelas Reef Runner knock off, the Storm Magwart, and the large Fat Free Shad. Many swear by the Rapalas: Shad Rap, DT series, and their Taildancers, but they are very expensive compared to the other baits I have listed.

Good Luck.

Flicker shads are great but if u are wanting to get deep they will only dive to about 15ft so u will need a snap weight or I would suggest lead core line....The taildancers are a great bait also and they will dive fairly deep on their own depending on the size of TD u get....ReefRunners are great baits and the biggest size RR will dive to 28ft....They are tricky to tune but well worth the trouble.

I generally use 800 series reef runners and they are not that bad to tune. Just a tweek here and a tweek there...the way they catch fish really makes it worth while. I generally get 30 feet out of them with 150 foot of 10 fireline out.

I do also use 700 series on leadcore and have very good luck.

Next favorite---Flicker shads on leadcore. In the late spring and early summer you really should not have to worry about getting any deeper than its maximum dive depth of about 15 feet.

Next--taildancers in tdd 11--they have their times as a wonderful bait.

The cabelas knockoffs work well--but I have had better luck with reef runners as they have a very good searching action with the eyes like.

Fat frees work very well and have caught alot of walleye on them.

Can't really say much about shad raps as I don't use them much.

Try to stay with kind of natural hues and tones, but I can't really say that because I saw a guy last year catching a bunch on the HOT TAMALE colored reef runner. Huh.

Good luck.

You can use a Bottom Bouncer such as one of these also and then just a shallow running Rapala tied on about 3 feet behind it.
