If someone from, say, New York, wanted to talk to some Ozarkians about our way of fishing down here, where would be a good place to go?

If they used Google and foung OAF they wouldn't have to!

I don't think they would want to put up with all the bs and bickering that's on here. Just some clear cut info on fishing with a good cup of coffee and a bagel.

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

So what keeps you posting here at very high rate compared to most???? if there is so much BS and bickering.

Uh... back to the question...

Sorry Phil, I think someone having a strong opinion on a subject is not a bad thing....far from it.I like the difference in opinions here.Life is way to boring otherwise if you ask me.

I am trying to think about your question and it has a lot of varibles. " Our way of fishing" versus fishing off shore in NY or in the Adriondacks stream fishing?? Is "our way of fishing" just fishing @ Taney???

I would have Al Agnew be on payroll and he can explain any type of Ozark fishing to an extent that not many can compare to. Are you talking from a tourism perpective to draw interest to the region to get people here or there beeing Lilley's Landing from NY??

One good way to glean info from the "Ozark Angler" is to just dress in a pair of jeans and a simple plain shirt and go down to outlet #1 or #2 and sit on the bench or shore and watch the locals fish. There are many that are there nearly every fishable day.

Don't ask "Catching any" ... just sit and observe. Most of the anglers that fish the outlets are very friendly and cordial to the polite observer who uses some patience and courtesy.

I have engaged many times with some very nice folks there who have not only shown me what they are using and how to fish it but even offered me a few flies.

Don't wade down next to them or stand behind them or ask questions while they are in the outlet or stream but just hang out a while.

If the angler seems to want to engage in conversation then ask questions simuliar to the ones asked on this forum. You might be surprised as to what infromation or mis-information you might receive.

Ask about fly shops, eateries, local attractions and places to fish at the outlet and along the shore at Taney.

Some days when I have finished fishing or need a break from sore knees I find the conversation and comraderee as refreshing as the fishing.

If I wanted to find out about Taney, I would ask you Phil. I moved here A little over 3 years ago and this forum has provided a lot of info to me.

Also the people working in BPS fishing department have been very helpfull with specific info I needed. I don't understand what our way of fishing would be. I have found the only change to my way of fishing would be adjusting to water clarity, lake depth etc. That should be provided by the resort owner where you are staying, if not, I'm not staying there. One other thing, anyone who goes to a new lake cold and doesn't hire a guide is in my humble opinion, stupid.

That's what I'm talking about right there.
