Trav Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Only have seen one and it was my brother who caught it. Little 10 incher...from out of the James near Horse Camp three or four years ago... "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
Whack'emGood Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 We've caught a handful of Meanmouths over the past few years, with a few of them being 15-16 inchers... just another bass to me. Fun to catch, and nice to release. "Success builds confidence, and you have to learn to trust your instincts and forget about fishing the way a tournament is supposed to be won. I'm going to fish my style and make it work for me." -KEVIN VANDAM "Confidence is the best lure in your tackle box." -GERALD SWINDLE "A-Rig? Thanks, but no thanks. If I can't catch them on the conventional tackle that I already use, then I guess I just can't catch them." -LK (WHACK'EM)
dtrs5kprs Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Did anyone else notice there seemed to be more of them the first few years after the LMBV kill? The Fann fish falls towards the end of that time frame. Seems to me like they are a little less prevalent over the last couple of years, as I fish the same areas and techniques that turned them up before. Perhaps the blacks push them out of places?
Fishing Buddy Don House Posted March 17, 2011 Fishing Buddy Posted March 17, 2011 Since MDC posts a record weight and ive always heard the Rock has a good population, who has actually caught one? As someone who has chased all species of bass from Canada to Flordia a Meanmouth would be a holy grail fish for me haha. Here is my girl, caught her two years ago, 4 pounds 11 ounces.. I think If I would have caught her a few weeks earlier she would have went well over 6 plus pounds with eggs.. Release her and watched her swim back down in the tree! Ham Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 The one I caught at Lake Whitney was the prettiest bass I have ever caught. It was about 17 inches long basically looked like a spot that was an overcoat of rich olive color. NO Doubt about what it was. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future.
