ozark trout fisher Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I'm not seeing anything wrong with the Current at all... As a matter of fact, I've been thinking about it pretty much every waking hour for the last week or so. I'm heading down for a camp trip down on the lower stretches of the Blue Ribbon area on Friday and Saturday, and the way I'm feeling about it right now it may as well be Montana.

Kayser Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 They may have come from loch leven way back when, but these are technically sheep creek fish now. Reference- http://mdc.mo.gov/conmag/2003/11/missouris-brown-trout-fishery?page=0,2 Just sayin... WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.

Reference- http://mdc.mo.gov/conmag/2003/11/missouris-brown-trout-fishery?page=0,2 Just sayin... I come from way back then. I had nothing to do with it. I was born with the blood. It was a gift. I come from German Immigrants. To "ME" Browns are Loch Leven, to YOU they are sheep creek fish. to each their own. I was just voicing "MY" opinion Kayser. If the first Browns were Loch Leven, AKA "German Browns", how can any Brown Trout anywhere not be related???? Can you explain that? Kinda like we are all decedents of Adam and Eve. Or I am anyway. JMHO.. That's why I release my Browns, to make the Current River a better Brown Trout Stream. If I want to eat fish, I go to the park where they are put in to harvest. The Browns below the park are stocked with the hopes of becoming a trophy trout. An 18" Brown is a small trophy, I feel it would help the Current to change it to 22" JMHO. Just sayin... P.S The Current River is NOT a Freestone River. LOL It comes from Springs. All our trout water is Spring fed, even the NFOTW. No snow covered Mountains in Missouri that i see. And if they were a little warmer we would not have Trout in MO, I am truly grateful for the cool water. My link A few fish pics. The Cutthroat was caught on Spring River in CO. 14 caddis The Musky was caught a few days ago by my son, on a Fly he tied the Night before. They are called the fish of 10,000 casts. They are especially tough on the Fly. That was our first attempt at the Musky. I used bait caster and hard baits, no fish.. He is quite the angler. I am very proud of him. Peace
