Members Scudz Rule Posted April 8, 2011 Members Posted April 8, 2011 im pretty sure if we go back about 9 pages of nit picking this all started because a fat rainbow was caught and kept INSIDE OF THE PARK. Thats what they are there for. Anyway, I will be posting a report from last weekend in a day or two with pics and all, a little something for all you boys on here that appreciate em. If you dont appreciate em, please do me a favor and everyone else on here that looks forward to reports and pics, and dont even open my post, cant take all this nonsense. Why use my post for your point? I'm all for killin in Montauk. SCUDZ says "Why not just go to the park to get your meat Gavin??" To me that looks like I'm cool with it trizkid? Did you even read it?
Trout Commander Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 A few fish pics. The Cutthroat was caught on Spring River in CO. 14 caddis The Musky was caught a few days ago by my son, on a Fly he tied the Night before. They are called the fish of 10,000 casts. They are especially tough on the Fly. That was our first attempt at the Musky. I used bait caster and hard baits, no fish.. He is quite the angler. I am very proud of him. Peace WINNING, DUH!!! I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
Members Scudz Rule Posted April 8, 2011 Members Posted April 8, 2011 Exactly! Well stated! I agree with Gavin. He didn't say people could NOT catch big browns---he said that it would be by accident for many. I fish the River once a month at least, and I include myself in this group, and I'm not ashamed. If I do catch a big brown on the Current (and I have a few 4 pounders, which is big for me), it's just icing on the cake. I drive 2+ hours to enjoy a beautiful river and to catch as many fish as possible. Targeting big browns doesn't help me catch as many fish as possible, so if I do get one, it is by chance, just as Gavin said. I use egg patterns a lot, and not many big browns fall for them. The majority of the people that I speak to on the river focus on quantity, not quality. That doesn't equate to big browns in most situations. What a great river, though! Give yourself some credit dude, it's not all luck. Gavin uses a method known by many, Big Stick baits. I was doing it in Montana in the 70's and 80's, caught many nice Browns. It comes down to a matter of choice for each Angler. About a year ago I did a test. I went down from Tan Vat with stick baits. I did catch some nice browns, BUT, I personally would much rather catch one 18+ plus on a Fly Rod, than a few on short rod. JMO. Stick baiting is legal, it's much easier than fly Fishing, but to me, not near as rewarding. so I use Fly's , so what? I'm not saying I'm better than anyone else. I used lures for years. Just my choice. Once I hooked the Fish 20+ inches, with a lure, it was over, fish in net, no problem. A 22"+ on a Fly rod? You have to experience to understand. Bottom line, less big browns in Current. My son and I used to catch several nice fish with Fly's in the early 90's, right below Tan Vat, and we were noobs. We even did it with bait fisherman in the holes. Read MDC Shock reports, they even admit the truth. Read the facts. It's all on the Internet. Research, MDC reports. The browns are smaller, and less numerous than ever. They say it's the spring flooding, river otters, poachers, etc etc. Just hope it gets back to where it was, so others can experience what some of us older Current Anglers had. So if anyone needs to complain, complain to the MDC. It's their job, not ours. and if you ask me, they are doing a terrible job.

OKFlyFisher44 Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Scudz...I normally ignore ur posts because they are random and sometimes confrontational but ur last 2 posts were actually worth reading. If u would post like that all the time, maybe there would be less drama? I don't care either way, its a free country and u can post however u like which is what makes this forum great. I agree with you on releasing all browns in the blue ribbon water... Nice fish by the way... The musky on the fly is sweet... Chance ...I'm haunted in my dreams of waters I have yet to fish and trout I have yet to catch... Chasing the Dream...
Trout Commander Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 A 22'+ on a Fly rod? You have to experience to understand. Might I ask what fly you use to catch these 22 foot river monsters, oh Great One? I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. As gavin would say " I was with John Barleycorn." Can you please explain your "winning, Duh post. It's ok if it's bad, or a put down, I just don't understand where your coming from? It seems by your 2 posts, you don't like me, that's cool. I'm an Angler, not a English Professor. Never have liked how people attack others in a Forum, for mis spelt words, or poor grammar. You can PM it to me if you like. Sincerely, Scudz
