aftersh0ck Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 I use ones you cant buy anymore. the garland heads in 3/8 an 1/2 with the offset hooks. I like them better so I can make them weedless without have to use the pain in the azz screws. going to get a mold made. the weight is flat on the side of the jig and the other has a very slight curve. I think im going to have it turned so it slows the fall a some and create a little flutter. I will put a pic on here later.
Bill Babler Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Chompers has two heads that work great. The standard flat head designed for the grub and also a Rocker head for a little heaver cover. Most of us now have convereted to a football head in 1/4-3/8th. Chompers also has these. Cut the plastic brush guard even with the point of the hook and mash it down a couple of times and you will be ready to fish it. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
aftersh0ck Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 i just wish they would make them with the offset worm hook
abkeenan Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 i just wish they would make them with the offset worm hook Aftershock- if you are wanting an offset hook here is your solution made by Chompers. These are new (atleast I've just noticed them on the market) and there are a fair amount of brands that offer them now so you can choose as you see fit. I haven't personally used them but these seem like they would work great. Best of both worlds bewteen a football jig and texas rig. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Chompers_Wobble_Head_Football_2pk/descpage-CHWBBLE.html
aftersh0ck Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 yeah i was looking at those. trying to get a good pic of the ones im wanting to make a mold of since these are different from the rest. im looking for a stand up head instead of football but it has to have the offset worm part at the base. i prefer to make them weedless on my own without the guards and and without the screw, straight hooks make the body tear to easy and not swim right. pics are not showing up right on my comp. i will put it up soon as thing decide to work with me L0L. dtrs5kprs Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 The chompers heads are very good, used to buy a similar (maybe from the same mold?) head from the old J&J when Jerry had it. Also using a couple of homemades, one on a do-it tip up jig mold dremeled out to take a flat eye hook and cable guard, and another that was dremeled to look something like the zorro ninny fly head-only in appx 5/16oz and with a cable guard. Anohter good one is the jewel spider head.

B Are you looking for the old hyper hula head? Like an offset worm hook with a flat button type of head?
aftersh0ck Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Are you looking for the old hyper hula head? Like an offset worm hook with a flat button type of head? yeah, the ones i got are a little diff but same concept. you got a mold or know something similiar?
dtrs5kprs Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 yeah, the ones i got are a little diff but same concept. you got a mold or know something similiar? I think D&D lures up in Canada had a similar head. Gitzit still sells the texas rigger head, but not the hyper hula, which was the more stand up type. Texas rigger is about the same as some of the Owner heads. Don't know as I have ever seen one in 3/8 or 1/2 though.
