and if society labels me a "sicko" for the way that I feel, then so be it.. But I make no excuses, and no apologies for my actions..

See, it's one thing to stick a fish with a tiny barbless hook (and slowly play him in so that he doesn't even realize he's been hooked until you reach down with the net and gingerly pick him up) and what I do... One major difference is that, when hooked with double (or triple) trebles, a fish truly goes into "get this thing outta my face" mode...

And I thoroughly enjoy it.. If I am a sicko for that, then I console myself with the fact that I stand in good company..

I'm one to use barbless hooks, but that is because I hate untangling barbed and trebles from my net. If it isn't against the rules for that stretch of water, I'm cool with it...specially if you taking them home.

I debarb on occasion, but I don't concern myself with it much...

And I do release them all.. The way I figure it, giving them sore jaws will help them to grow wary, which will lead to them growing old and fat...

Besides, hauling them in on 8-12 pound test, they've got lotsa fight left in em when I unhook em... (vs playing them out for a half hour on 2 pound tippet)

It can be hard to get the 12 pound test through a size 24 fly or catch a wild trout in dead calm, gin clear, 3 foot of water on a 3X (8lb) tippet. Don't have to worry about tiring out fish you don't catch. My point is sometimes (not often) 7x tippet is called for.

With that said, some people say the same about me and using live worms to fish with. I have a system where I use a lift to drift a tight line through a hole. I might gut hook one out of 30 fish. I either cut the line and donate the hook or take them home. Either way, nothing is hurt.

I think you are a sicko, but that has nothing to do with anything fishing related.
