snap Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 ...my, how things change!!! did not know the forum had a "sports" ...read all the posts from the beginning. LOL...will just add that I was at games 1 and 7 in 82 when we did the brewers in the first time...standing room only for $7. cannot even think about going now for the price!!!!
Smalliebigs Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I was at game 2 and 6 in 82..........long live silent George and I'll never forget Darrell Porter doing Wonder Bread commercials after beeing named MVP.........Willie's coming out party..........Tommy Herr and Mike Ramsey's permed mullets......... Kenny Rietz couldn't hit a lick but could field third base better than Brooks Robinson........Lonnie smith and Kieth Hernandez doing coke on the chartered flights.......Bob Forsch beeing a man.....Stuper coming out of nowhere to help the second half The cards lost game one like 10 to 0 and came home from milwaukee down 3 to 2 and were losing in the sixth in game seven 3 to 1 until George and Kieth came thru and good olde Bruce shut the door. memories.......we are going out the door right now to create some new ones.... hopefully good ones
Brian K. Shaffer Posted October 23, 2011 Author Posted October 23, 2011 Wow --- Pujols had 14 total bases tonight in Game 3. That has never been done before in any World Series in history. Going back 120+ years. 5 for 6, 3 homers and 14 total bases. I sure hope we can pony up the bucks his agent will be asking for him now. Quillback Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 I'm heard the announcers say that Pujols TURNED DOWN a 9 year, $180 million dollar offer from the Cards. So to sign him the Cards will have to come up with even more, unless no other team meets his salary demands. He's 31 now, maybe 3-4 really good years left (barring injuries). Is he really worth signing to a 9-10 year contract at at least 20 million/year? Great to see the Cards win last night, what a change from the nail biters the first two games were. Cards were so close the 2nd game, if Pujols long fly to center had gone a little further, or if Molina's throw to 2nd on Kinsler's steal in the ninth had gotten there a split second earlier, Cards could be up 3-0.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted October 24, 2011 Author Posted October 24, 2011 Man --- that pitcher shut us down last down night.... we had no firepower.. no ummph. No breaks. Carpenter better win this game for my CARDS IN 6 prediction to come true. Boy, if I was a bettin' man in Vegas I could have made made a mint!~ Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 What on earth was Tony thinking ? Lynn comes in just to walk a guy ? wow... talk about a turning point.. StL needs 2 in a row to win out.... at least it'll go to a game 7 *i hope* Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted October 28, 2011 Author Posted October 28, 2011 Holy goodness gracious... that was the best game ever. I think that might go down as one of the best game 6's in 45 years.... or more. What a crazy win. Game 7 --- with this new STL momentum... I think we pull it out. (( fingers crossed )) Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
Members anieman Posted October 28, 2011 Members Posted October 28, 2011 Unbelievable game by the cards tonight. I'm gonna fish the Current River tomorrow to celebrate and hopefully come back to watch a Cardinals win. Go birds!!!
KCRIVERRAT Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 The Cards have grit, that's for sure. I'm rootin' for 'em. However... I kinda' liked the outcomes of games 6 & 7 back in '85! Thx DD! HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS
stlfisher Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 One of the most exciting world series games ever. I like Joe Buck's homerun call...pretty cool it was almost 20 years to the day his dad made that same call. One more game...I am not sure I can take another one like tonight!
