laker67 Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 After a huge rain overnight, at LOZ, the cicadas are everwhere. The rain must have driven them out of the ground. They are in every stage of hatching this morning. The ones already hatched, are about 1.5 inches long and brown and black in color. Get ready for some flyrodding fun. Has anyone noticed them in branson?
Gavin Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 MDC reported an abundance of them in Oregon County on their Facebook page yesterday..should be going gangbusters in the Southern part of the state this week...nothing up here in St. Louis yet but I saw a couple of the nymphs in the yard last night.
Brian Sloss Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 I am in Oregon County and I have only seen a very few of them so far, but hopefully more are to come. I have not heard the tell tale buzzing sounds that can get deafening when they are out in big numbers. Keeping a keen eye out for them though. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
Danoinark Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Can't believe I haven't seen or heard any here in North Ark. Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Al Agnew Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Saw a couple on the deck this morning after the rain. Haven't really looked for them. No singing yet. Ste. Genevieve County.
laker67 Posted May 13, 2011 Author Posted May 13, 2011 I'm not hearing any singing yet. They just came out of the ground last night, so I don't know how long that process takes. There are literally hundreds just in my back yard. I was out on the east side of the lake this morning and saw zero just 20 miles away.

I will bet that you are just waiting for the first one to fall into the river. I would like to be there when that happens. Keep us posted.
Ham Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 I hope the carp get tuned into that "hatch". I need to exercise my 8 wt. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Nortrad Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Too cold here in Springfield this morning for any activity, 47 right now, 42 tomorrow morning. That will delay them. Hopefully my prototypes will work next time I get to some water.
