Hey guys, trying to set up a BP trip for later this summer. I was wondering if any of you know about this "National Forest camp and access at Horse Camp on left" at mile 46.7 in the MDC Paddler's Guide. Anyone know if this access is still functional or have directions to it? The book is a little vague.

Thanks y'all.

I've camped there before..Its nothing more than cut in a mudbank with a fire ring......Its on the west bank at the top of the big island not far above 6x. The roads are better on the east side of the river...Id access from Mason or Slabtown, and pull out at 6x or Ross. Cheers.

Thanks Gavin. We're just looking for an access for early leavers/late arrivers to join us partially through a 3 day float. As long as we can leave a few vehicles there for a day, that's all we'll need it for. Sounds good enough.

You should be able to leave a couple cars there. But 6x is only a mile downstream...If your going to the trouble of leaving cars there..you might as well skip 6x to Ross section unless your planning to finish up with the 6x to Ross stretch in the Monday-Wednesday timeframe..LOTS of Floaters on the Weekends.

We'll be above Horse Camp on a Sunday and then we'll be on our way down to Ross on Mon/Tues. I'm thinking we'll avoid most of the idiots with that schedule. The MDC book says Six Crossings is 3.3 miles below Horse Camp and private, otherwise we probably would use it to make shuttling easier.

Is 6X by fee or permission?

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

New question...does anyone know the name of the private access at Hazelton Spring at mile 36.1 between Mason and Slabtown?

Are you talking about on the right as you go downstream???? We call that grist mill, I met the old dude that claimed that was his property once. He was actualy very nice and was really interested in how we were catching smallies.......that was in 1999mellow.gif it's little road off of AF that at one point had a sign that read Grist Mill, it's kinda sketchy
